Thanks for the mention Jimmy I was really grateful for that, with the TopDon go to the vehicle listing page and click "Refresh" at the top of the page it will put back all the vehicles up to when the subscription expired. Also you can click update to do any non vehicle related updates for the scanner, but again click "Refresh" afterwards. The You Tube name Dan Gleebols comes from a very old UK joke of going to a customer desk at a store and asking for Mr Gleebols to come to the desk, first name Dan, will Dan Gleebols please come to the desk please 🤣🤣😂.............Keep up the amazing work you do on the channel, it's your personality that makes it so special.........Phill

Jimmy, next tool buying question -> Would you go standard length universal (swivel) or deep 1/4” sockets first. I’m trying to strategically spend my Discount Tire xmas bonus this year on tool upgrades to go with my new ICON box. (That is how I stumbled onto your channel a couple months ago.) Love the scanner diagnostic explanations. I’d like to see how your’re probing those connectors at the purge valve. I have a hunch. Happy New Year from AZ, the “other” snowbird geriatric destination. 😂
@JimmyMakingitworkКүн бұрын
That is awesome Don! I’d go with deep swivels, that’s what I use mostly and they clear 95% in most tasks. Maybe also get singles for 13,10 and 8mm shallows next. Sometimes only a shallow 8 will reach a clamp. Thanks for the idea on a backprobing video. :)

Happy New Year Jimmy! It wasn't the engineers at Napa that conjured up the evap purge valve kit. It was the elves at the Dorman toy works. Dorman put those quick connect fittings on the hoses to make the weekly purge valve changes easier! 🤣🤣
@JimmyMakingitwork2 күн бұрын
Thanks for the info! I figured it was something along those lines. Haha I also hear Ford is extending the warranty.
@crasher882 күн бұрын
on that escape purge valve I highly recommend getting the ford one. I have seen quite a bit of the aftermarket ones built incorrectly and the part that clips onto the intake manifold won't fully click on and will vibrate off

So if i understood correctly the purge has voltage on the ground side until the pcm grounds it
@JimmyMakingitworkКүн бұрын
Correct. In electrical circuits a ground controlled, or pull down circuit will flow electricity thru it with resistance. Once grounded the circuit activates. Try it with a light bulb to see how it works. Hook a meter to one bulb lead, power to the other, after measuring voltage, hook that lead to ground and the bulb will light and you’ll be measuring voltage drop at that point on the ground. I have a video on the works that will be out soon.
@giggiddy5 сағат бұрын
The ground acting other than a ground, by carrying voltage or controlling something by pulses from the pcm just pisses me off for some reason. I always started a diagnostic cycle by making sure my grounds were solid. That was kind of my rock. Everything else stemmed from there. Now that principle is no longer a non wavering step. Maybe it's been like that for a long time. I guess I'm just hearing about it. All bets are kinda off now in terms of basic diag now.
@giggiddy5 сағат бұрын

The engineers are designing parts for manufacturing not for the mechanics. If Ford makes that purge assembly in two pieces that UAW worker has to put their coffee down and use two hands and install. Next thing you know they have picket lines asking for 6 figure salaries.

It’s no wonder Ford quit making cars, with the crazy level of complexity they couldn’t make money. They have fallen so far since the late 90s.

I think the federal paying manufacturers so hard has damaged them all to some degree. Some are handling a little better or worse though.

know one said engineers were smart just bean counters. wonder if when they have their cars worked on does their mechanic chew them out ? lol
