I absolutely loved the first one and thought the second one was just as good (the rooms were even better in this one). I like sequels where you have to watch the first one to understand what's going on (like a quiet place). For me it then seems like an actual continuation not just a random cash grab. Really hope they make a great third one and then end it.

Great review Emma! We get this a few weeks from now, but I'm happy to hear that you (kinda) enjoyed it! I thought that one scene in the first one that used Petula Clark's "Downtown" was insane (especially for PG-13)! I hope there's a similar use of sound design in the sequel! (Your story about the bickering couple was epic! I'm sorry that they ruined your experience, but thank you for sharing!)

Honestly didn't even know it was out already. And yes - I also really enjoyed the first one a great deal. A Saw movie without an abundance of gore, and very rewatchable (also thanks to it's cast and some of the cool rooms). Will definitely watch and probably buy this one in time too. Just like part 1 I don't expect a masterpiece but just 100 minutes of entertainment. (I agree about the title too btw - could've just stuck with 'The Tournament' as a subtitle). Don't think I'll be going to the theatres for this one however. Probably buy or stream it. I think my first theatre experience will be Halloween Kills or the not-so-new James Bond. Preferably the first though. Trailer looked fantastic and Halloween was the third horror movie I ever watched so I want my return to theatres to be 'special'.

Thanks very much for the review, Emma. Always good to hear your thoughts and so glad to hear that Gromit is recovering well. I saw the trailer for "Escape Room: Tournament Of Champions" and it looked like they just took the wild premise from the first film and cranked it up to eleven. The first film did have it's thrilling moments, but the reasons behind the Escape Room were a bit much. I imagine the best way to tackle this sequel (if I get around to seeing it) is just not to take it seriously.

Of course a bunch of young guys (18 to 23) sit behind me and one of the punks takes his shoes off and puts his feet on the chair next to me, not just on the chair but like hanging over right next to me. I couldn't stay quiet it pissed me off so much, told him to move his fkn feet before I break his legs!! I was so pissed. And of course I couldn't sit there anymore because they were behind me and who knows what they'll do. Anyways I ended up leaving. So pissed.

As far as installments of a series goes, I'd rather have a sequel that is completely dependent on having seen the previous movies. "Insidious Chapter 2" is like that, and they are two of my favorite horror movies. It's much better having a complete continuation imo. The worst parts of sequels to me, is when you have to have some sort of awkward exposition scene crammed in there to explain the previous movies, to who hasn't seen them. Anyway, I enjoyed the first one, hopefully I'll enjoy this one as well. I'm glad the two leads came back for it.
@kobemaddox3 жыл бұрын
I noticed that in the first one at the end there was the plane scene and the second one ended the same so I believe there may be a third one and the puzzles were very brutal it’s like they didn’t know what to do for the second one but they scrapped as much as they could to make another and another. It didn’t make sense to me and I really liked the first one
@shawnhilliard3 жыл бұрын
Havent seen the sequel yet but I'm calling it. The guy from Atypical that is an escape room enthusiast in the first one is alive and behind all of this... Edit: I am convinced that I am correct with the whole "if you didn't see it, it didn't happen." We never saw the kid actually drown... Also, how are they going to end part 2 with a twist that anyone who saw the first one anticipated???? To hell with this franchise...
@troygoom22513 жыл бұрын
This was more of a neutral review compared to others :) it was definitely a bit of a step down from the previous one. But I still liked it even tho I didn't like some choices the director made. I like the franchise at this point and definitely wanna watch more of them! I hope they do more :O

Didn’t say anything about ratings. But people were tortured and died in the first. Spoilers: They were kept in the cold where the boy fell into the ice and was trapped underneath, the girl was out in that room high up where the floor kept disappearing. All of the puzzles were from traumas they lived through. Kind of definition of torture as it was all of their fears.

1/5 it would have been zero but the popcorn was epic. this was a painful go we were the only ones in the theatre and with good reason. power went out half way thru and we shoulda booked it out when we had the chance. maybe i see too many movies and expect too much. when we drive 65 miles one way to see a movie we really want it to be good, or at least watchable. i know suspending belief is why we go BUT, it really really really had to be suspended. not to mention some of the dialogue was goofy and cheesy as hell. the final destination franchise, which you mentioned, is waaaay better. in my opinion of course.
