You know, I was just about to say I would love to see an official quest with an escape room, but then I just remembered we technically already have that with Recruitment Drive. from 2008. Jagex yet again ahead of the time.

Ever considered a Runelite plugin? With a plugin you could make very clear area restrictions, fully disallow the use of certain things like teleports, or even build a totally custom puzzle that just isn't possible in game.

7:07 It'd be super cool to have Jagex official escape rooms. I think using existing areas, but tweaked to fit the escape style gameplay. As in, NPC dialouge being included, NPC names, item spawn, and easier ways of starting an account, like you mentioned, different spellbooks, custom stats, etc. Then players could reset if they got stuck and eventually it'd be kind of a timed challenge of sorts. We've had speedrunning, this is sort of like the next step. ... .. . .. ... .. . .. ... PS: were there always 4 Falador guards here?

I'm not as long time of a player as others, but I'd say if you did a escape room for normal players, keeping it mostly to areas and mechanics already in the game would be ideal. My reasoning is that part of the fun of your escape rooms is dropping players into areas they've been thousands of times and watching them learn new things about said area, or following their own red herrings from their own knowledge, or a bunch of other things that only come from a level of pre existing familiarity with the area and the game mechanics. However saying all that, I think following your inspiration and creativity will have the biggest effect on the quality, so if a area specifically made for the escape room opens up tons of new options and ideas, then I'm all for it, just be careful not to make it feel too generic or like we aren't even really playing runescape anymore. Testing our knowledge of runescape is a solid part of what makes these so fun I think.

If you could work with Jagex, it'd be cool to tweak mechanics to make certain areas possible that currently aren't. For example, if there is an area where the player could just kill themselves against enemies to escape or there's an item spawn or something, you could have those enemies removed or make it so the player's health can't be lowered.

This could be a really awesome balance between areas we already know and love, combined with making the areas feel new and open up new possbilities by adding or removing crafting areas, enemies, etc. Fantastic idea in my opinion.

custom built maps would be completely fine, it just needs runescape mechanics. also that makes ur job easier, therefore you can create faster and more creatively

I'd 100% pay for a patreon that releases one of these (no need to make the accounts, just explain what stats, quests or whatever we need unlocked) like weekly/monthly. Would be great for content creators but also for viewers who want to do it themselves. The only problem I could see is that some of the information will spoil certain solutions. Like bank pins since the user would be the one setting up the pin, they'd know the answer. unless you put some type of spoiler tag on it and tell users to have someone else set the bank pin for them.

Would love use existing runescape maps and mechanics for an escape room (im not great at the game so learning new mechanics would make things even harder!) . that being said every room youve made has been A+ so i'd play whatever escape room you made available to all players

I wonder for a Priff escape room or using the escape room, you could ask for players to provide their own account. Ask them to go somewhere specific, trade them an invent?

If you could do 'anything' working with Jagex, a custom map/area would be great but I think you should keep it to existing RS mechanics. As cool as having custom mechanics would be I know I would overthink how to use them the entire time and all possible interactions with existing mechanics/game rules, while keeping it to just what already exists has me rely on my own game knowledge for how to escape and/or fail. Also for custom maps and things like that I wonder if a plugin or some other scripting could provide that functionality. I know Idyl's Hide-and-Seek plugin was popular for a bit last year, however HDOS came out with a custom quest and Jagex brought a ban hammer down on that. An escape room made via plugin feels like it would straddle the line between them and seems both amazing and risky.
