I never understand why older couples want a huge house. I'm 68 and font want any more space to have to heat, clean, furnish, etc than is necessary

Pretty funny that a retired woman wants to spend her life cleaning house. I wonder what it would cost to adequately heat the mystery house or if you'd spend the winter huddled up by the fireplace. Reality is more likely that the kids come for a visit once or twice a year so buying enough bedrooms is a total waste.

Here they go again! This couple was emphatic about wanting . . . a DETACHED house with 1-4 acres, where they would not be near other houses and what are they being shown? All of the things they emphatically DO NOT want.

If the stock isn't there for their price and location they want, they can ONLY show them what's currently available. Here we go again with these comments from people either not understanding this or not knowing that even at 700k you can't always get a detached house in the UK. A million, maybe in THAT location - but also maybe not. Most common house types in the UK are semis and terraces at the low to mid price range. Higher prices, semis and detached with small land/garden (so, detached but almost as close as as a semi in many cases) Top end, depending on location,(so, not London) you might get a few detached with land.

That is the comment I was going to make. I couldn’t believe when they showed them a house that was not detached and a house that was surrounded by other houses, when their main goal was to be isolated. Mystifying. With the amount of money they had to spend, I’m sure they could have found them better properties to look at

I agree. That first house had a huge kitchen with plenty of space for a sofa. In fact that house was large and stylish. You could see a neighbor but no neighbor's windows. I know each person has its own taste, but I would have bought that house in a heartbeat.

Still can not quite comprehend: Jonnie is no more! Motivated by his Boys, I believe, His small Children had 2 more Years with Dad! He's been THE most combative Person I ever knew! Instead of 2 and 4 years old, his Boys are 4 and 6! Makes a Big difference in the Live of a small Child! Loved the Hydroponic Culture!

Should have stated massive kitchen with sitting area is a deal breaker. Certain the room in the mystery house to convert to a kitchen is smaller than the first kitchen, yet she says it's the right size😮

I've got this at home , we've already got that at home...why don't you just stay home!!!! You don't want to be overlooked by neighbours??? Maybe they don't want to be overlooked by you!!! Do you think you are so special they will want to just stand there all day with their noses pressed against their windows watching you?? What secrets do you have? Most people say hello to their neighbours and get on with their day.... So many people would kill for a home like those. So many people would be thrilled with any home at all. Some people just have too much money to spend. One woman who loves to cook can only take up a square metre of kitchen at any one time why does she need something so big??? Its just further to walk to the oven, the fridge, the bench, the cupboards... I rent, I would happily swap with her for any of those homes. "We aren't anti social we just want to say who we will see and when we will see them"...that's called snobbery...and the final sentence..."We will consider what we are willing to pay". . I wonder about the people selling...'did they consider what they were willing to accept??' personally I hope they said wrack off!!! we are not selling to you, we love the people in this village and you wouldn't fit!!! Nice try though Jonnie...glad you had some fun on the wind surfer...especially what I know now ...RIP xx

I think too much of Hampton Court Palace has rubbed off on her. I wonder what she thinks she is going to do with the Mystery House as it will require more money for remodeling & and decorating --- not to mention the cleaning and maintenance! There will be less time for reading and lounging on her two sofa mega kitchen and cooking and baking!

I really wanted to slap that woman, but in her defence, house #2 was never going to work, so why take them there? But what a personality change at the end. It'll cost another 100k to do up the mystery house, but their issue, not mine. The privacy plus being able to walk into the village seems preferable to remote. My current home had a tiny kitchen, so I turned that into a utility room and co-opted the dining room to be a new and larger kitchen - although not big enough for Sue.

The husband seems like a great guy and her……. Not so much. He could have grabbed a hotter dish but chose the safe route, I guess. Sir, Walgreens had a BOGO on the jumbo size bottle of Advil. Send me your address and I’ll mail you a bottle. She’s pruning at such a rapid rate I’d guess she’s pushing 90. Yikes.

The Witheridge Vicarage, renamed Hope House, was listed for sale in 2019 for 850,000 pounds (programme was made 2016). So either they didn't buy it, which is my guess, or they ran out of money quickly.

I like this couple. Sue likes to smile and laugh and she kept saying she was open to compromises, and she loved the sorel. But house #2 had so many houses around it it could have been a housing development. In house #3 Sue said that every room was jaw-dropingly wonderful. She said she loved house #3, I really, really love and then she laughed happily. I don't know why these friendly people have been so insulted here, but just write them off as unpleasant people, Steve and Sue. They're not in your class.

It is very comical how after the lady rejected house #1 due to small kitchen (totally inexplicable !) and visible neighbors, Johnny took his revenge by selecting a place where the neighbors practically had ringside seats for house #2 !!!

Im always amazed when the preferences of the buy are totally ignored. If buyers don't want neighbors, why do they continueto show two houses with neighbors? Or if you want a detached house, why insist on showing an attached house? He needs to have his face held and told, "read my lips, we do not want an attached house! Nor do we want one with neighbors, get it?"

House #1 The garden is lovely. Most of the rooms are small. House#2 semi detached...neighbors are too close! Major failure. If you aren't going to listen to the brief, what's the point? Mystery house - still has close neighbors. Top of the budget with a need for work. Not ideal.
