After watching several episodes lately I wish they would do one season with low budget houses, with some need of renovation perhaps. Watching people standing in a number of huge rooms kitchen living diner whatever for mostly just 2 people ... I really like the educational part of the show where one can get an impression of the different counties.

I watched a few episodes yesterday and had that same thought! Couples who have £600,000-£800,000 to buy a house, are shown houses with huge rooms & 4-5 bedrooms and say the rooms are not big enough, or the property has 1.5 acres and again, not large enough! I’d like to see an entire season of normal priced houses for ‘real’ ppl! And the prices are from 2017! What must they cost now, in 2024. 😱😱😱😱

I loved the mystery house. The main house without the annexxe was sufficient in itself and even bigger than the 1st house which I loved, then the annexxe was a superb bonus. I loved the privacy of the house, the modern clean nice, the income potential which I will just use to house family and guests as well as the outbuilding and land on offer. It was worth the extra 5k more than the other two.

When Alistair mentioned a holiday let, she turned up her nose and said, sounds like work, but then she wants acres and animals.

Well, to be fair, some people (like me) don't always say the right thing, especially with a camera pointing at them. She probably meant that running a holiday let is not the right KIND of work that she was interested in. I would feel the same way and I'm a very hard worker!

Sounds like the sister of that other episode where the couple was moving from London to the country and the retired couple were stoic upper lip that no houses poor Alister showed were good enough! One she liked but was put off by the treed acres because she ddnt want to RAKE all those trees in the fall

That's because for British people outhouses do not mean outdoor toilets. They mean extra small buildings round about a property.

This show is a real treat for the soul! I'll be forever grateful that you're sharing this! Loved to see Alistair so excited with the locomotive in this one!☺️ My favourite was house #1! The master bedroom in house #2 though, wow!😍 The house and the land was amazing too, but SO much work! I hope they did find a perfect home in the end and she and her husband could give a home to many animals too.❤️

My first thought with the first house was it would be peaceful and quiet, as well as having a wonderful place on coffee mornings at the church, to meet new friends and integrate into the community. She didn't like the pond with the first house, worrying about her grandchildren, but seemed impressed with a lake on the 2nd property. Her husbands thoughts of the size of the land concerned her, but there's enough acreage for him to eventually build his own "personalized" workshops/ garage etc... as well as room to fence off a large area for ponies, goats, etc. But the mystery house was gorgeous - but then again, I don't mind the seclusion.

She may want to consider how noisy donkeys are before choosing them for pets. It also might be a good idea for her to volunteer at a stable to get a better idea of the work involved with caring for horses morning and evening.

Jeez. The fact that husband Paul could not be there, was always mentioned as Husband Paul and she kept saying I - is there a Paul? Clearly I'm watching too many crime shows. Lol. Lovely properties but I can understand why none of them were quite right. Hope they found something nice - and if they have horses, learned inbetween that you must keep at least two of them.

Loved house 1 wouldn't even mind the chapel being that close (might change mind on a Sunday lol). Liked House 2 but that seems like a massive amount of land. Liked mystery as well. Did anyone else think the lady just seemed underwhelmed with every property? Her friend was much more upbeat. Maybe the buyer is just introverted..

This one was almost painful to watch, thank goodness they want you to have two people because without Jude there'd have been no personality at all (besides Allistair ). also in the end it said it wasn't close enough to the village but didn't he say he'd rather be out in the middle of nowhere or am i getting it confused with another episode. anyway i wont watch this one again that is for sure!

I don't understand these totally undemonstrative people who want the world. She's in an enormous house and blinking at it like one of the ponies she wants to have and is then disappointed that it's small, because somehow this is small to her.

I like house #1, but I'd kill anyone ringing bells first thing in the morning! Churches certainly love their bells. House #2 - a barn conversion. It's impressive, but I wouldn't want neighbors so close. The mystery house is nice, but really large. At some point, with just two of you, the house echos. It's hard to feel cozy with that much space.

Maybe Lorraine was suffering from extremely low blood pressure and that explains her complete lack of enthusiasm, motivation, or normal human reactions. I'm surprised they cast her on the programme. I'd have thought there would be some kind of personality test before accepting people on the show, ie, to check that they actually have one. Goodness, it was hard work watching her. I felt the houses were all over-restored inside and lacking warmth, charm, and character. However, that's what the clients were looking for, so ETTC were just providing that. Boring, boring...

Hanging on for dear life there Alistair, did you really need to stand so close to the edge if you don't like heights? I wouldn't have thought any less of you for sitting on a rock :) Nice first house Alistair.. but ladies.. fill in the pond? What about all of the wildlife that has been living there for 50 years??? The children will grow up and love to look for frogs etc.. get some concrete reinforcing and cover the water for heavens sake!! And you certainly wont have to worry about the cats they aren't stupid. You wont be living in the city any more.. adopt some country ways. Mmmm house no:2...are you going to drain the pond ladies??? Buy the hubby a ride-on mower he's love belting around on that... Get animals or humour the hubby... conundrum indeed. House No:3.. does this lady really want to move to the country?? Didn't she say at the start that she would have lots of visitors (60 years worth of visitors and family), yet having an annexe sounds "too much like hard work"!!...what's she going to do for the next 20 -30 years of her life???..Oh Alistair you will give this lady conniptions, first a pong, then a lake, now a river...you'll have her and her sun bronzed friend racing to catch the first bus back to London.. LOL ***Alistair Im not sure what I enjoyed more, the look on Jonnie's face when he went hang gliding or yours on the train. If I ever win lotto I will buy you your very own little steam train - your reaction was priceless. I know what you mean about the smell I love it myself. Thanks for the little side trip to Clovelly I went there in '78 when I came over to visit the rellies.. ** These ladies need to go home, there was no joy in her face at all, maybe she should have waited for her hubby to be available...
