Just to clarify about the cleanliness on the dial. It still had dust say @2:23 and in other areas but it was very minor and I expected to see a lot more. Just incase someone asks about some seen on macros.

Spot on review! I love the look and history of the deepstar and this new model 60. I purchased both the deepstar 41 in grey and also the 60. The finishing and design of the dials and stainless if beautiful but I am in agreement 100% about the finicky crown on this one. You can’t even wind it when u 1st pop it out. Mine unfortunately is horribly regulated as well gaining about 20 seconds in an 8 hour workday. it made me question these la joux perret movements because I had an issue with the chrono sub dial as well on my deepstar. (Aquastar did fix the issue in a timely fashion) I’m happy to see yours is regulated better and may send mine to be checked.

Nice to see more LJP G100s in the wild. Farer has begun using them now too. One of the biggest issues with the 2824 (that the SW200 inherited, being a clone) is the weak winding train and issues with "helicopter rotor." This being very closely related to the 9015 means it should have none of those issues. Otherwise though, you have yet another vintage skin diver reissue. I don't see what this is doing that the Oris D65 wasn't doing five years ago, or that the new Vulcain Nautique isn't doing, etc etc etc. It just feels *very* "me too." Couple that with the apparently garbage crown, and I fail to see the appeal here. Since Squale was already mentioned, I'll mention Zodiac as a more attractive alternative. The '53 Skin is a little bigger but not that much, and it just has so much more style.

For the price of this diver I’m glad they at least regulated the movement to tidy up the time a bit. Not my type of watch but it’s very interesting and I like bidirectional bezel

While everyone I spoke to had similar issue, it probably wasn't as bad as mine was. So I assume mine was just worse then the rest. But they have great customer service I hear so if you get a bad one they should take care of you.

I like Aquastar watches but they need to some watches without the faux patina. I had the Aquastar Deepstar 2 but sold it. Because I couldn't stand looking at that mustard yellow patina but dam like every model has it. Break it up a little bit do some with and some without.

This looks really great but I have to say, the Super Squale beats this out for a skin diver I think. I do really like the inky dial though.

Thanks for sharing! Yeah I like the super sqaule. It is tough to beat, except maybe the 18mm straps I believe? which may look a bit too tiny for some.

The model 60 is another story. Beats in every aspect the super squale that seems a ordinary watch. The model 60 has vibes and is more solid also

Quite nice, isn't it? Not a bad price for the finish/movement too. Better value than an SPB Seiko or a BB54... or the upcoming 62MAS (still want one)! A deluge of little divers! Maybe get a Blancpain Bathyscaphe on discount or second hand for true quality/value? All that said, I think there's some marketing shenanigans going on here... 1957? Maybe it got worn by someone in the French Navy in the Med from '53-'57, but Trieste wasn't sold to the US until '58 and went to the Mariana Trench in '60. Perhaps Don Walsh wore one then, but Piccard definitely wore a Longines! One thing about submarines: you don't need a dive watch (well, you shouldn't!), so chronos are where it's at!

@@EscapementWatch Yes, I then had a deep dive and found the same! Well, Don Walsh is a true legend of the deep! But yes, I'm sure all Trieste's timing kit (and Picard's watch) were Longines. Apart from the sacrificial (!) Rolex on the outside.

I agree with you:crown action is rather scarce;the crown is as if it has a phantom position where it spins idly.Furthermore, in my opinion, 37mm is a bit small for a diver today: when it arrived I was tempted to send it back, but I kept it for its historical value and because all in all, I like the watch.Subsequently I also took the Nato strap and the compass for which, however, the waterproofing data is not provided.

I love the 37mm size, especially on historical remakes like my black Bay 54 which is basically a remake of the first Rolex submariner.

There are two other things that don't convince me about this watch: the bidirectional bezel and the clasp which is really too simple and crude on a watch in this price range: I would have expected a clasp like that of their chronograph which instead is made very well. Measure to cut costs on something that costs 1390? No, it's unacceptable.
