I have the black dial version and love it, it is my most worn watch at the moment. Agree about the lume on the hands, would have been nice for it to match the indices, but it doesn't bother me as I see it as vintage character. The quality feels awesome, and fits my 6¾" wrist perfectly.

The hands have rough finishing on the edges @ 6:28. It is so true! They can be seen from a 15cm distance with the naked eye. Since it seems that it is a manufacturing defect, it is not worth taking it to th AD to correct the fault. On a positive note, the movement is very accurate, and the case is well finished. I expect much better from Vulcain, wanting to play with the big boys, and it is a pity, because it is such a well proportioned and nice looking watch. Thank you for your detailed, comprehensive and honest review! One of the best reviewers out there that I follow.

Yema Superman Heritage is the most faithful skin diver recreation as it's a 1:1 recreation. The only exception is the second hand that changed

Great review! Love the Vulcain Brand and their vintage looks. I believe the same people who bought the rights to Vulcain also own Nivada Grechen. They have a nice skindiver in the Antartic Diver, same 38mm. I wish these were 39mm or 40mm, even 38mm case, 39/40mm bezel would be awesome. Like that it uses the ETA 2824 as I have had issues with Sellita 200-1. Their ratchet wheels are like tin and shear easily. I would like the see the Rhonda 150 used in more watches.

I was itching for a skindiver lately and I seriously considered this Vulcain. This is definitely a beautiful watch, but I ended up going with the super squale because I like steel bezel inserts, I like lumed seconds hands, the sellita movement it comes with is elobore grade just like the Vulcain's ETA, and most importantly it was quite a bit cheaper.

oh also the super squale has applied indices at the 12, 3, 6, 9. Seems like I spent months obsessing over the ideal skin diver and to me the super squale won out.@@EscapementWatch

I own this version, and I am very happy with it. That said, I totally agree on the lume, white BG W9 would have been great. But the only thing that I really don't like is the ceramic bezel. Aluminium would have looked so much better, the plastic cheap and way too glossy look of the ceramic bezel is a crime on a watch this beautiful, total eyesore.

It was in the original script but was taken out because the intro was becoming too long and boring. President Joe Biden actually was gifted a vulcain cricket as well and wore it a couple times.

very round down turn on the tips thats why the lug to lug is so short. It is awesome imo.

The case looks a lot like the Tudor Black Bay cases. Personally, I would have preferred the original shape of the vintage Nautical, that looks a lot like the Oris Divers 65 case.

Love the watch but I wish there was a bracelet option. One thing I love about the divers 65 is how you can completely change the look of the piece by swapping from a bracelet, to leather to rubber. Now you would have to take a gamble with an aftermarket bracelet and hope that it fits.

Cool to see a company with that kind of history but I'm curious. With all the comparisons in the end, is there a reason you didnt include the c65 from cward? Seems to offer everything and more than those listed and is half the price with twice the warranty of most you mentioned.
@EscapementWatch10 ай бұрын
hmm well I wanted to keep it somewhat the same category: 1960s re-issues/remakes skin divers. And I don't get SKIN DIVER vibes from Chris ward. Just seems like a regular diver, unless there is a model I don't know about. Because honestly I don't follow CW closely at all.

Gotta ask ya, is the crown modified so the stem is thick for a dive watch or is it a basic thin stem? I hated those oem thin stems on the Oris divers. If not, this would be a winner

i giggle the crown in a scene I think its thin, but I'm not 100% sure. Just a guess from the crown wobble when I put lateral pressure

Can't get down with the faux patina
@flippalovell10 ай бұрын
Just stop thinking of it as ‘faux patina’ and call it cream colour. Creamish colour indicies are more aesthetically pleasing than white for many because they are reminiscent of the look of a vintage watch. So what? When you put it in that language instead of ‘faux patina’ it makes it sound less monstrous.

@drdesign688610 ай бұрын
The brand died. All these new ones are simply licensed copies. I’ll pass and stick with a proper watch maker brand in Oris. You simply cannot compare Oris to this new Vulcain - yes the older original vulcain. But this new company has nothing to do with that original company. It’s like me buying the rights to universal Geneve and making watches with their name and using their back catalog. They would look super, but they are not likely to be of the same standard and they certainly lack any history - well genuine history.
@drdesign688610 ай бұрын
@unimpressively_charmingOris never died. It has continuously been in operation as Oris since it’s origin. Owners change, that’s life - but the company remains based in the same location as always. All the above is nothing like the story of Vulcain - and to suggest otherwise is disingenuous. Vulcain ceased to exist at one point and was resurrected after bankruptcy in a new location after its rights were purchased by a third party. This new company effectively only re-release back catalogue watches they have the rights too - again so far removed from Oris and their forward thinking independent approach to watch making.
