Feel like I'm a bit here, but this is like the PEAK of Ori escape scenes, this video right here. Whenever people ask me about this game and what's it about, I direct them to this video and say "watch this, this is the Ori games". This all comes together extremely well. Very well done! Also, side note, I wouldn't have the patience to perfect that myself. It's not only cool, but impressive!

The escape sequences are a great build and improvement from the previous game, but the downside to the music being so synced to the player is that it's very noticeable when the track repeats after dying during the escape and when the transition from the escape to the cutscene music happens, with the music no longer being in sync with where the player is in the escape. So, you can have that building climax happen at the start of the escape if you die.
@SpoopyChicken2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, if you don't do it deathless it really isn't in sync anymore and it does feel off (the climax coming when you die sucks). But that incredibly satisfying feeling when you do get that "perfect run" is a worthwile tradeoff in my opinion. In my first playthrough of BF, I did Ginso Tree on my first try and my god it's the 2nd best thing I've ever felt right next to Sekiro's combat.
@Deathclaw-lh5tl2 жыл бұрын
I had that problem with Mora the Spider. The first time I did the chase segment, I got through it without dying. When I came back to it a second time (because I shut the game off by the half-way point to listen to the soundtrack), I died before I could get to the end and noticed that second phase was playing in the middle of the chase and it nearly threw off my rhythm.

Oh you won't regret getting this game. Firstly, it's rated 96% overwhelmingly positive on steam, it's my personal #1 ranking on metroidvanias (Yes I rank this game above Hollow Knight though I LOVE both of them) it has about 15-20 hours of content if you go for 100% completion, and it's priced like an indie game so it's much cheaper than most AAA releases. It's the closest thing I've ever found to a game I can call "Flawless" Not as in it's the best game I've ever played, but as in it's a game with literally no flaws that I can think of.

Y'know, sometimes I feel like Ori was built around this track. Like, that Gareth came up with the original loop for this track before any gameplay was done and that the team were like "okay, we're just gonna make a scene that fits this and it's gonna be in the game because it's too good not to". I know that's probably not how it happened, but jesus, it's so good that it makes me forgive both games for how much I mechanically dislike these escape scenes just because of how boss the music is.
