Stephen you are correct in general we all have to find joy in the simple things in life. I think it’s great that you know what are those things that brings you peace and joy…It allows you to get out of your head and focus on other things other then your mental illness,at the end of the day you are more then your mental illness. You are an amazing person with so much to give… you literally are blessing to many with these videos❣️

Dear Stephen, This was a brilliant video message! Looking at the comments you received after this video it is clear you continue to encourage and heal thousands of people! Depression is experienced by all humans at some point in life. You exemplify some excellent resources to help one move through their depression, sadness, and loneliness. Changing one’s physiology anyway they can will help elevate their mood! Exercise, movement, games, music etc. are all natural healing modalities. These videos of you in the moment capture the real human condition experienced by all and how to successfully move through even the dark times! So proud of you!

That's very interesting insight Stephen. Video games act as a kind of 'mindfulness' for you. You can 'get out of your own head' and we all need to do that from time to time! Sounds like a really good strategy for all of us (as long as we dont overdo it!) Glad to hear it is effective for you - and its a really good tip for others struggling with mental conditions.

Thinking about yourself and anxiety are diagnostically indistinguishable if I’m recalling that right. So yes. Thinking about other things is a good way to reduce anxiety.

Helpful video! Insights, nostalgia, and activities like playing Pokémon offer relief or distraction for individuals with schizophrenia. My sons play Pokemon and they love it. Video games can enhance cognitive skills such as attention, problem-solving, and memory. Nostalgia can be helpful in reducing stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. Insights can assist you to better manage your symptoms, communicate with healthcare providers, and make informed decisions about your treatment. I loved the video Stephen! Thanks for sharing it with us!🙌❤

I am so happy I saw a new video! I listen to video game music.....a lot. It gives me peace and helps me relax. I also really enjoy watching old shows. They are a little slower and really relaxing. I also watch a couple of KZbinrs like Captain Zoda open Magic, (The Gathering) card openings, team fortress crate openings and video game walk throughs. It nice to not have to think about anything.

Hi Stephan, What you are saying is so very very true. I find that when I feel down one game in particular really seems to bring me out of it. It's a tablet game called Wordscapes and every time I complete a puzzle I take a sip of coffee and within about 15 or 20 minutes all the fog and cobwebs in my head have been blown away. It's like hitting a giant reset button. It's so true - very often its the "small" things that can make the big things seem not so big after all !

Games are a narrative. Indulging in a exercise of a theoretical alternate narrative is cathartic. Takes your mind off of you for a minute. Changing the narrative I’m indulging in is why I read or listen to books and stories so often. Heck. Your video here is you telling a camera about a narrative important to you. About the story you and we are engaging in. And that really is what we are all doing. The meanings of our thoughts and the way they are knit together is generally ourselves engaging in an ongoing story. Or. You could think about it in that allegory. I’m a such a Literature nerd. I used to say lore nerd. But maybe I’m evolving. Or devolving. Thanks for telling me about what it’s like to be where you are, and to face your struggles. I pray for your health and life.

I have found that games help my schizoaffective disorder, specifically farming sims like Story of Seasons, Harvest Moon, and Stardew Valley. It’s a simpler life when I play those games, and it’s an excellent way to escape the days when my symptoms are bad. Video games are fantastic coping tools!!! This is all so well said, and happy late Pokémon day!

Nice video man, i find you're absolutely right, it's sometimes the smaller things and even the attitude of gratitude and appreciation that can come with them that makes it for me. One thing that has been helping me i think is meditation Stephen. I sit still and relax my body and mind and focus on my breathing for periods of 5 or 10 minutes. I suggest trying it out and seeing if it helps. Apparently there's a lot of science to support its beneficial effects for alleviating problems. Wish you all the best man, take care
