Thank you for an interesting conversation. I think Windows95man is disliked because most people were rooting for another song at UMK but I think it’s fun and I would be very shocked if it did not qualify. I didn’t get Europapa until recently I am warming up to it a bit more. It is more interesting than Windows95man and musically a bit more unique imo. Can’t wait for the semi tomorrow!!

Thank you Matt and ESCUnited for the stream and discussion! I'm at the half and few thoughts... 1) I'm out of the changes loop this year, so thanks in advance for helping me/confirming: so we have both semis decided ONLY by televote, right? And the final order is NOT drawn by halves and then decided by production, but ALL the final order is determined this year by producers? If the second is correct, it's a bad decision imho. Clearly shows favoritism and adding neighbour/block countries voting it becomes way too predetermined for my liking. But it's what someone said from the chat - they are money-oriented, not audience-focused... 2) re: ESC costs and potential ideas of scaling it down...Hm, I'm honestly all for the downsizing in terms of $$$ spent, at the same time I'd love to see more countries. What could be the idea is putting a budget ceiling for delegations - yes, it would be 'unfair' to sone, HOWEVER: I believe it could fuel some determination to be more creative in regards to some countries (also those with big budget potential...). Plus I would love to see more native language songs. More reflection of local/regional music styles etc., but I understand this could be pretty limiting requirement (I'm just underwhelmed about this year's entries I guess, lots of generic stuff that was already done at Eurovision and was done BETTER...) 3) re: viewers' ranking from the beginning - I'm shocked that so many highly placed entriies were my immediate standouts (I've heard all songs for the first time TWO DAYS AGO, no previous listen to any).

Ooo I don't know. Everyone got hyped for Poland because of the staging but she sounded vocally bad in the rehearsals. She was fine on the pre-perties where she wasn't moving much; a bit shaky, a bit off in the moments, but mostly fine. Now that she needs to do a choreo, she doesn't sound good. She has the sweetest tone of voice, but it is all for nothing if she sings off on the night. But who knows
@martinmitchell72809 ай бұрын
I think the assumption is that because it is 100 per cent televote Poland will get high scores from countries with large Polish disapora like Ireland and the UK. The UK gave Poland 10 points in the semis for the last 2 years - and Ireland 12 points last time it could vote for Poland in the semis back in 2022. Will that be enough?!
@belosevickris33799 ай бұрын
@@martinmitchell7280 I think one needs about 50 points to get through. So she needs others to give her points, not just the UK and Ireland

In my opinion, the most unfair thing in Eurovision is the way most of the countries vote. It's ridiculous. We have the trio Malta-Italy-San Marino , the Balkan countries, the Scandinavian countries, the countries of the former Soviet Union (which are a lot!), Greece and Cyprus. I hate that every time, me and my friends predict with 80% success where the 12 points will go before the representative announce it. For example : Malta's or San Marino' s representative : "And our 12 points go to...." (me and my friends: "Italy 100%")... Malta's or San Marino representative: "Italy!!!" (me and my friends: "WOW!!!"). The same for all the alliances i mentioned (maybe not to the same degree).
@chiarap29919 ай бұрын
San Marino almost never gives Italy 12 points. Their wikipedia page needs to be blocked during ESC bc of people vandalizing it every damn year for that reason. Lol. Malta gives us good points usually, but not always 12. It's more likely with countries like Albania and Romania, the true allies! 😂
@dianas36279 ай бұрын
My opinion only but you have the wrong countries to make this argument and comparisons. I would say Cyprus and Greece always give each other top points and then other spread of countries ie Denmark ,Sweden,Norway,Iceland,Netherlands always seem to share the love of points between them,I know San Marino does not always give Italy points for sure,from a fan who has been watching Eurovision since 1975…..

You're dead right about the running order stuff. I hate knowing how a song has done in the semi based on where the producers put the song in the final. So boring. Nobody in the first 7 songs will ever win again
@jackd34939 ай бұрын
Also feel like it's straight up disrespectful to songs they put early- basically the producers saying "you're shit"
@Charlotte13339 ай бұрын
Do you think the running order is a lot more important then let's say 20 years ago? And why is that? Because in 2003 Turkey won despite being very early in the show, 4th if I remember correctly
@jackd34939 ай бұрын
@Charlotte1333 no it's not more or less important- my complaint is that the ebu can see the semi final results (I really don't believe when they say they don't). When a song get put in the first 5 songs, we can assume that they haven't done that amazingly in the semi final and so won't win. It makes all the early entries seem just there to make up the numbers to me.

Whereas with that turkey song it was randomised

@@jackd3493 oh I get it, sorry I misunderstood. Just like the curse of the 2nd song will never be broken, because they always put a song with zero chance of winning in that spot 🙄
