I've been considering the ESEE 5 as an indestructible urban survival blade (already own some Izulas, Izula II, ESEE 3,4,6 and a Laserstrike) and after seeing that the only way to kill a 5 is hammering against a well drilling pipe until exhaustion, I think this blade should easily survive anything encountered during real world knife use.

Amazing that their just regular 1095 steel, but Esee must really have perfected their heat treat process 🤔
@wesleysnider29152 жыл бұрын
@@impermanenthuman8427 They just run it ultra soft, so the thoughness is very high. But on the other side, they stay not sharp very long. The sharp edge rolls fast, chipping is no problem on the other side because of it. So for hard work like batoning, chopping and such stuff, they are awesome. But for carving and such stuff they are not the best choice.

@@bufonidae get two knives, a bigger one for chopping and such stuff and a smaller one for carving. Or a axe and a knive for carving is what I prefer. JOE, it seems to me that you gave ESEE 5 lighter treatment than others...no antlers, stone block, ski edges, and not so much jumping on it and trying to bent it as with others...Any chance you'd be a little biased towards it? :) I love your videos and they are so funny and useful and I think it would be a big upgrade if you followed more standardised procedures of the knives' torture so that they really get the same treatment and the results are more objective. Maybe the same number of hits on the same objects? After all you do pass judgement on their quality so I believe they would deserve it:) Of course, at the same time, it is your channel and your show so whatever makes you happy is fine :) By the way, I really hope and wish you stay safe and don't hurt yourself too much doing these absolutely most extreme knives tests! Thanks, stay healthy and enjoy ;)
