That looks like a practical, handy knife. As for the sheath, another thing I like is to be able to sheath/unsheath with one hand. With the JG3 I might try making a neck knife out of it. Thanks for a great review.

I feel the same way about that handle, I had to ground down a little bit on the back of the blade to prevent getting cut.

Outstanding knife! I like the James Gibson design.

Yes I think that it was money well spent. I can't wait till the "Carving Axe" by Gibson comes out.

I absolutely agree regarding the powder coating's superiority over black oxide. The powder coat is bulletproof; I have heard people claim it impedes the blade's progress through different materials but I have not had this experience and believe it to be false. BO must be cheaper for ESEE to produce. Great review, thank you!

My understanding is that they went with leather sheaths due to the fact that the Camp Lore knives are more outdoorsy where a lot of the rest of their products are tactical. Also, with leather, wet form the leather to the knife and you'll be amazed at the retention. As far as the powder coating goes, a lot of folks don't like it because they say it keeps the knives from sliding through stuff due to increased friction

Best review I’ve seen on the JG3. I’m looking for a general bushcraft knife/decent carver and the JG3 looks like it fits the bill nicely. Have you tried the ESEE RB3 with a scandi grind? It seems more suited to carving if that’s important.

I have not tried the RB3. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.

The Izula 2 is one of my favorite knives....my only desire would be for it to be 1/8? thick stock.
@TheGearTester6 жыл бұрын
I think that the JG3 is basically a Izula 2 milled from 1/8 inch thick stock.

The Esee 3 HM is very similar to Izula 2 and JG 3
