This video convinced me to buy one of these! Lovely little heli, and almost exactly the right size to match HO scale trains. For the battery, I just cut a partial bit of fine velcro (it was included with my Blade 70 S, which of course is a 150 V2 clone) and stuck it on the upper part of the mounting area, letting the nose hold the forward end of the battery in place. The biggest annoyance is the dead zone in the controls, which is fine when just flying around but makes it really annoying to attempt precise spot landings. One workaround I found was to set the trims all the way to one side on the right stick, and then fly it with constant pressure on the stick, thus moving the dead zone away from the effective center point. It is more difficult to fly overall that way, but gives you finer control when landing. I do still fly it with the trims centered most of the time, though. It's surprisingly good outdoors too, especially in high rate mode, and actually handles the wind a lot better than my old (much larger) Blade CX2.

LOVE the large scale birds. I didn't like the way the F150 flew. The huge dead zone in tail rotor control does not suit me at all. So I put the works from a Blade MSR-X inside the body shell. Unfortunately I could not get the works from a 3D micro heli to fit in there like the Nano CPX. Cool videos. Happy flying!

Good eye - you know your P cars! I'm sure your 987S has been a joy to own & drive as well. We've had our little 986 since 2001 and in those 20 years, it has never missed a beat. I do all the service on it myself. Had a 73 911T before, kinda wish I kept it with the insane prices air cooled 911's are fetching now, but the 986 is better performing, more refined, and way more fun to drive 🙂

@@Rchelicopterfun Nice :) Yeah anything aircooled has gone ballistic. I'm only recently into P cars to be honest. Spent my life chasing the Ferrari dream and never quite got there. Now that I have my Cayman S, there's a Ferrari 348 for sale that I "could" afford, but I'd have to sell the Cayman....and I wont. That says volumes. I'll always love Ferrari, but, the way I put it, the Cayman is "the most Ferrari thing Porsche have ever done". Re spotting it in your video, funny story. I was literally just thinking "I wouldn't fly that thing in MY garage in case I hit the Porsche", and at that moment, you panned round and I spied the Boxster wheels lol. Classic.

I have a question :D Is it possible to use the F150 blades on the Blade 70 S? I use a huey body on my Blade 70 S and the heli could use some more uplift.
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 3 жыл бұрын
Not the F150 V2 blades as the rotor direction is reversed and thus the leading and trailing edge are reversed as well. The 150 V2 however can because it's the same heli as the 70S. Regardless however, blade size and shape is identical between the 150 V2 and 70S are also identical so no lift gains would be had.

@Togetherness80 3 жыл бұрын
Just out of curiosity......what if you added a little weight to the right side to get the lean out?
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 3 жыл бұрын
You would have to add a lot of weight (in relation to heli mass anyway) and the helicopter would then drift right. It's leaning left to counter the right tail rotor translating tendency (RTRTT). Leveled out, it would no longer be able to do that and the heli would no longer be in a state of hover equilibrium.

@Rchelicopterfun 11 ай бұрын
Like most RC aircraft, RF range is greater than visual range (i.e. if you can see it, you can control it). On a small dark micro heli like this, practical controllable visual range is at maximum 50m (160ft) if you have really good eyesight. Personally, it gets too small to see/control for me at about 30m (100ft)

How do change modes if you accidentally chose a different mode? Do you have to return and wait for another or is there a way to change it?
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 3 жыл бұрын
You mean switch dual rates on or off? If so, you simply push the button to change from one to the other and you can do it on the fly. There is no visual way to tell what D/R selection you are in but you can certainly feel what level of D/R you have selected when flying.

@@Rchelicopterfun If that’s what there called. Then okay, but if that’s something else then what I mean is the type of way I want my controls set up. The up, down turn left, turn right, control to the left side or right side, and the throttles to go forward, backward, left, right on the left side or right side of the controls. The throttle controls are on the left side and the controls to go up and down, turn left and right are on the right side. When I used to have that, I had the controls on the opposite sides which I enjoyed. So is there a way to fix it? Sorry if I sound rude, quarantine’s got me unsure on how to start convos since I barely talk to anyone.
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 3 жыл бұрын
Ah, you're referencing the radio (transmitter) stick mode type - understood! Specifically mode 1 vs mode 2. No way to change that with these little low cost transmitters I'm afraid. That is why there is a mode 1 version of the F150 V2 and a mode 2 version. The heli is the same, the radio it ships with is different (mode 1 version with throttle on the right elevator on the left, mode 2 version with throttle on the left and elevator on the right). Two options I can think of without returning/exchanging it would be to pair it to a computerized OpenTX radio with multi-protocol module that allows you to change stick modes in the radio (a costly and complicated fix). That or find someone in the same bind with the stick mode you want and you with the mode they want and swap transmitters. 🙂 I suppose a third option would be to see if you can mod the radio to swap the gimbals around along with the wiring so the correct gimbal is controlling the correct channel. I have no idea if that is even possible as I no longer have the little radio that came with mine, I fly it with an OpenTX radio now.

@way2tall1979
@way2tall1979 3 жыл бұрын
As a Rotorcraft CFI I can attest to the fact that real helicopters do slightly tilt in flight. It’s due to something called “Translating Tendency” or the helicopter’s tendency to drift in the direction of tail rotor thrust. Helicopter designers can correct this in the design or how the controls are rigged. However most people like myself learn to fly in the Robinson R-22. In the Robinson it is the pilot correcting it with a slight left cyclic input at all times. It’s noticeable on initial takeoff into a hover, but you don’t pay attention to it as you fly.

Like all single rotor RC helicopters with swashplates, if you have cyclic drift (ie. swashplate is not level), you can use the radio's aileron or elevator trim, or adjust the pushrod linkages. If you have tail rotor drifting, your only option is using the radio trim. Trim is pretty good out of the box for the most part.

Suggest their (Esky's) normal 150 V2 then (same thing as the Blade 70S). It's more robust because it's not got as many fragile scale details, and it flies a little better too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHvSgoh9obKKZ8U
