Prepositions of direction are usually the most difficult prepositions to learn. Try watching our prepositions of time (kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIPVh56OfJVgrJYsi=a5CvBvljzLQCZLS_) and prepositions of place (kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaKZZol9oLuqeZosi=ISC7NEJh2ToKkJ9i) videos first.

what's the difference between "near" and "next to" ?
@ellii8 ай бұрын
Great question! "Next to" is directly beside someone or something. "Near" means close to someone or something, and it's usually a bit farther away than "next to." Common examples are "I live next to a bank" (= my house and the bank are side-by-side) and "I live near a bank" (= my house is on the same block as the bank, maybe about 3 or 4 buildings apart). For more examples, check out our Prepositions of Place video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaKZZol9oLuqeZosi=HdsenLOO6mWtETQr

is preposition of direction and place the same?
@ellii7 ай бұрын
Mostly yes. For example, the preposition "behind" in "The bank is behind the bakery" is a preposition of place or direction. But some direction prepositions such as "around the corner from" are not usually considered prepositions of place.

Where do I use around the corner from and on the corner of, what is the difference, I really want to know
@ellii10 ай бұрын
Hi! Good question. Use "around the corner from" when there are two buildings or locations and "on the corner of" when there are two streets. For example, "The bank is around the corner from the movie theatre." and "The bank is on the corner of Main Street and Smith Street." Hope that helps!

Please tell me the use of " around the corner from"
@ellii9 ай бұрын
We use "around the corner from" for buildings or places. For example, we can say "The bank is around the corner from the pharmacy." This means that both buildings are at or near the corner, but they're on two different streets. If we say "on the corner of," it's only for one building that is built right at the corner and is on two streets (though the front entrance might only be on one street). For example, I can say "The movie theatre is on the corner of Granville Street and Robson Street."
