Hey! I'm interested in getting into this game (on PC tough) as I have always been a huge Elder Scrolls fan, especially Skyrim (Fus Ro Dah!), so Greymoor has seriously piqued my interest now. I have been tanking mostly in other MMOs such as Warcraft, FF14 or SWTOR, as it is by far my favorite role to play, and my favorite tanks always boasted major self-healing. So I'm really interested in working after your "Almost Immortal Warrior" build. Now I know that getting into a new MMO via the role of tank can be quite tough as knowledge of the fights and routes is always very important for the role. So my first question would be is pursuing the tank role for someone new to this specific game (but a very experienced MMO tank overall) advisable or absolutely not? Mind you I am very willing to watch specific dungeon/encounter guides beforehand and put in the work to make it as smooth as possible. The second question would be regarding your build specifically, is this realistic for a new player to pursue? Or would you suggest picking a build with more easily available gear before, as a stepping stone towards this so to speak? Thank you for your time.

@@MrDeadline86 hi there! Question one, is yes anyone can be a tank even if you are new, god knows we need them lol Question two, builds are not important right now. There is so much to learn in the game and so many millions of choices, mechanics are what you need to understand first . I appreciate your mmorpg background, i myself have played mmorpgs for over 20years starting with Everquest (played over 100 mmorpgs over time, even the obscure ones) and i can assure you although this is in the MMORPG genre, it is VERY different from anything else out there. There is no one way or now way (regardless of how many try to force it), power leveling makes bad players and understanding mechanics overall is KEY. Learn the basics, see what you like and go from there, every single class can play every single role, they just have different ways of doing it. That's probably a bit of a vague answer but it is what it is, this game is very unique vs it's competitors in that you have the freedom to play however you want :) ONCE you understand enough THEN worry about builds. Although i do explain a lot of skills and details in the builds so the information will still help. The best thing you can do , is log in and press buttons, youtube research alone wont help enough :) Hope that answers your questions and enjoy the game!

You totally got me to change my DK to a tank. So silly I was to not realize the potential. I made a few adjustments not as high of lvl unfortunately. But still immortal. I don’t have the armor and such so had to resort to searing strike for extra burn spam and I also use volatile spikes and molten arguments. I don’t obsidian shield or the undaunted skills. I still give you the credit would not have made the change without you. I am subscribing!!!

Would bewitched sugar skulls food change the build? it gives a lot more of base magicka and health recovery (I know it's not as useful on vampire, but still it tripples it) for minimal drops in stamina and health (about 500-600 each) stamina is still a little higher than magicka but they're very close.

Farming another set would waste time NOT getting the set when you could be doing some more grinding ;) Try getting some fragments from the market, that will let you open the chest in the beginning of the dungeon, you never know what you mite get. However, RNG is a factor in the game full stop. If you tried to farm something different in the mean time you MAY hit the same brick wall where you can't get what you want. Best tip i can give you apart from fragments to open the chest , is spam it on NORMAL difficulty and take some friends who DON'T need what YOU need, you will get it im sure. It is not the end of the world if you don't have it on the back bar for the time being just don't stay on that bar long. Good luck!

Use Heroic Slash in that slot if you don't want either vampire skill. That applies a damage debuff to the target and gives you minor heroism much like invigorating drain. Also since its a one hand and shield ability, it is also free during the block ulti.

Hey Xynode. I tried asking on the easy sorc build but, would the easy sorc build work well for a dragon knight? The easy sorc relies a lot on heavy attacks and molten armament increases the heavy attack by another 50% would that work at all? Just instead of using a shock glyph put a flame glyph on the staves. Would you still be able to get off balances and get the dk flame damage bonus?

yes you can heavy attack on the dk and get stronger heavies, yes you can get off balance with lightning staff wall of elements. But dropping the shock glyph will decrease your chances. So it can be very different. If you want to try something, try it ;) You maybe surprised.

Hey guys new to tanking and I have a few questions: 1.How do I keep agro? I keep taunt up all the time and usually I m able to turn the boss but sometimes he just turns around and smacks someone else in the face. It's either mechanics or someone else is using a Frost staff with a passive unlocked that turns heavy attack with Frost staff into a taunt. Buffs should definitely be up all times and shields depends on the content you play

I may have misunderstood this but I have 3 questions: 1) Is there no Rotation (outside maintaining taunt) for stuff? Is it just keep your buffs up, keep the taunt live, and heavy attack/block in between? 2) Have you tested this build for Harrowstorm yet, and if so has anything major changed? 3) What sets would you recommend a lower level player (currently CP 276) to use to grind for gear like this?

Pretty much whatever you like for the time being, those sets are unique and none replicate what they do. BUT there are other options in earlier versions of the build so the choice is yours really.

Leeching plate, the set to use if you have no dds or heal in the group and are in a rare situation with a gazillion adds that aren't gonna die anytime soon xD always makes me laugh on the demo at the end of this build. All jokes aside, I do still like to use leeching now and then for fun, but anything endgame with a solid group I do prefer alkosh and yol for group buff/debuff. But either way, good vid :)

Definitely your stam DPS should be wearing Alkosh - it’s a VERY strong DPS set. Good point on that. It amazes me that so few DPS will wear it considering that the more who do the more the DOT stacks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The design for aggro in this game is different. In stead of dedicated aggro based skills that can be countered if people OVER aggro...in THIS game you have skills (taunts) that are GUARANTEED aggro (pending mechanics of course). The only way to lose aggro is to let the taunt run off. All taunts are single target to give the tank the reigns in regards to prioritizing targets in order instead of "aoe never fail". So general rule of thumb when understanding mechanics is to CC as much as you can of the small stuff, get the big nasty stuff taunted first, and then, taunt whatever else you can while controlling the rest. Small stuff can be CC'd, bosses can't. So picking your targets is where the skill comes in :)

I must be missing something, looked at the written guide aswell tho. So I've got 64 Attribute points in health, healthy enchantment on everything, tristat buff food (800 hp difference to the hp+stam max food shown in the video), now you're wearing 2 sets that give you very little health, (2400 on leeching plate, 1200 on yol) while im wearing plague doctor (5300 hp) and warrior poet (2400 + 10% max hp at all times) and only that gets me to the same hp (51k) as in the video even with buff food active. I must be missing something major but ive watched the video 3 times now lol so i need some professional help here

you would have to alter your stats a little (get more stam and weapon damage) BUT just remember that will hinder the build's performance for it's purpose, however in questing there really is no limit, you will be fine :)

Some attacks will stagger you even while blocking. Also, in crowded situations it is possible that mobs will move you while walking, simply by crowding around you. They don't even do damage, they simply push you (probably happened in cities as well, when NPCs walk over you while teleporting and thus interrupting you). There's nothing you can do about that.

Is this also viable in PvP if you're trying to CC tank? my friends and I are a full four and we love to pvp a lot. I've always preferred tanking over dps so just wondering if this build can be good for it.

this is not a pvp build but i HAVE used it in pvp (without trait and cp changes you would normally do and it is a brick wall and cc nightmare because of the recovery and survival. SO while it is not designed for it and you may need some alterations (alterations are up to you) this DOES work very well as an aggressor/cc/debuff role if that is what you are looking for. Again i shall stress it is not designed for it but YES it can "work" ;)

Hi, I have watched the video (several sections several times lol) and don't see anything in there why the poison enchant is what you use for the front bar weapon. Very nice build. U had a warden with that Et that do cold aoe while blocking. I have have a dk tank with baharas curse and leach set. Think that baharas curse is magica based set, but the quest from thieves dlc gives armor parts inn heavy ant not inn light armor. Ever tried it on warden or dk? 🤔 Its promising when putting a lot of work into it. by work, i ment transmuting. 😅

Well this build is most likely targeted towards multiple enemy battles, for example dungeons and battlegrounds. I'm sure with enough experimentation and fine-tuning, you'll be able to find that single target build.

@@theofficialfool yes, it's really good for that. when i was doing vCOH2 my whole group died against the spider boss and she was cocooning me too fast for me to rez them. But leeching was healing me faster than she was damaging me and I had to leave the group to wipe. But dungeons also have single-target fights, and often those are the harder ones. I've farmed ebon since so that my 5-piece is doing something, i'm curious if xynode has thoughts or go-tos for replacements though

I felt that it's more common to run into multiple target fights, so leeching would be handy for most of the time, but yes, the ebon set is a great replacement for 1 on 1 battles.

@@DeltaNovum i play ALL content with stage 4 vamp as tank, healer OR dps. It's a choice and lots of people are scared of it because of fire damage. Just don't stand in fire or buff your resists ;)

Thanks for the great build and the extremely informative video. I have completely changed my damage dragonknight into a tank and after looking at several different builds this is the one I’m using. It’s really tanky and the one that best suits my playing style. Just one question. I have 340 CP and I’m still some way from getting Leeching Plate - I have just started the version I dungeons - and also not using poison in my weapons. Is it worth temporarily using the Thaumaturge points in another star? If so, in which one? Thanks a lot 😊

I'm just starting to tank and the build is extremely solid even without that armour. I was actually more interested in knowing how to put those damage over time CP points to good use in the meantime. For now I've put them into Physical Weapon Expert to do a bit more damage while in solo PvE. I'm however not sure if that's the best option :)

They don't have a damage bonus to poison, they have it to poison status effects. That is explained a LOT in the video when demonstrating/explaining the gear and it's application along why how and WHY it works ;)

it's a tank, it is not designed to do damage. But if you want to change the design and application of the build to suit your own play style, that is up to you.

Btn it drops in both vet and normal just the one that drops in vet is purple, you can also get it from doing the quest

Braa S yes 33k, but if you are over 25k you are fine, my sweetspot is 28k. If you are new to tankning and focus to stay alive go for 33k but if you are ”good” try 26k and go up to find your sweetspot

Tanks should be hybrids, with a bit more attribution points in stamina so orbs and shards will give you stamina. I haven't met any tanks that went one or the other, its usually dpses and healers doing that
