@@constantinokelly85 I'd go Nord, Imperial or Orc if you are more worried about tanking. Orc is gonna give most dmg because it has the racial for it. Nord is gonna give ya the best protection and most ult. Imperial is most raw stats and best reduction on skill cost. Personally I prefer Nord because most of the sets I want add dmg but having the extra AF fills in for what a lot of the heavy armour sets have. The 258 dmg just doesn't seem like enough for the trade off.

I honestly play a Templar as a hybrid of damage and tank, a bit more emphasis on the tank. He is very fun to play, I went with him being a Breton because of their national identity being about knightly valour, I'm running him with Leeching Plate and Warrior Poet for my 5 pieces, along with Engine Guardian for my monster set. The Templar in my opinion is underrated, especially as a bit of a tank

With the next chapter: you can now swap out Dregh King Slayer for something else, since you're using Jabs. Since Jabs gives brutality and sorcery now, another DPS set would work here. Deadly Strikes could be good.

I would swap thief for lover, 2k AP as default is just too low,. Crusher enchantment is a must here too, since you are not getting full AP bonus from light armor passives. Even with major breach You are still losing 43% damage on bosses. That’s a big dps loss and thief extra 10% crit chance won’t make up for it.

I tried it, sustain is a nightmare on this toon. I tried the previous Paladin build and it worked more fluently due to the mix of light/medium armor passives providing sustain buffs(+2h weapon passives eases sustain too). That one was more versatile too and could be used in group content. It was a good idea, unfortunately there’s now way around light/medium armor passives. Wanna go play a hybrid dps, gotta play in mix of medium/light armor.

In conclusion I would like to add, that Templar is already durable enough thx to its passives and abilities. Using heavy armor just throws away damage/sustain out of the window. If you are looking for survive ability mix of iceheart/hexos(jewelry,weapons)/“any set you want”(light armor) along with puncturing sweep will give better surviveability/better damage(much much better), and better sustain than current Paladin build.

Nice build and your website suggestions too. Ever since sets have been hybridized I've used rattle cage and spell Power cure for a little more survivability. Yes you lose the crit chance but you gain an extra bar health and an extra bar of magic. With a Templar heels are on the ground constantly so uptime with spell power cure is 100% And the expedition is really not needed in PVE imo but it's still nice to have. Keep up the good work

Why not run Caltrops over Elemental Drain on backbar since you already have Assault line? Only real upside to Elemental Drain is it lasts longer. The 168 mana or whatever you are getting over 10 seconds won't even get you an extra spell cast(don't know any spell that is 1680 mana).

Its a 20 second debuff, and it costs nothing. It doesnt sound like much, but one free to cast ability and 3360 magicka back is a good bit of sustain. That said, I still prefer elemental suceptibility because of the rotating burning, concussed, and chilled status effects and the minute timer

Hadn't used it in so long because Caltrops had become so standard, even for magic users since you get AOE pen debuff/dmg/slow(instead of single target pen debuff/20 sec 3200 or so regen). I like the 1-button/1-click efficiency of Caltrops, because so much of the time you are fighting more than 1 mob(plus every second or 2 anything in the AOE gets debuffed, downside is leaving AOE for more than 4 secs loses debuff).

@@CreativeExcusesGaming yea, Caltrops is a little costy. Think somewhere around 3200. The worse thing about it, imo, is the grind to get it. Pretty much every char I make now I run through battlegrounds just for that skill. If you start grinding battlegrounds around lvl 20 you will be about in your mid 40's before you can morph the base to it.

I am playing around with a hybrid Necro right now. There are so many tools a hybrid Necro can use so I decided to keep it simple. Each bar has two main attacks and the other skills are for passives or use when needed. My front bar attacks are melee so 2 hand cleave and hungry scythe. Back bar attacks are blighted blastbones and unnerving boneyard

@@aiellamori I tried consuming trap with oblivions foe as one of the sets because it is hybrid friendly. Trap was hitting pretty hard. Also, Soul assault tool tipped at 85k damage and hit nearly 100k in dungeons.

Very difficult. These builds are for level 50 and higher, preferably cp160. You would have to farm the equipment at low level and it would become obsolete very quickly. Just level up however you can, get a guild mate or friend to craft decent armor for lower levels

Having just started playing recently (I'm like level 14 or something near that currently) I've noticed that we change gear way too fast at low levels to worry about trying to work on an end game build. I do like getting ideas for how I should respec later, but at these early levels, it really doesn't matter that much as long as we can kill mobs to level up and stay alive doing it, we're fine. Just do the quests, get whatever gear you can, and keep leveling.

I have my main quest/solo imperial templar that has been running medium armour and 2H (Briar, Hexos Pale order Pirate skeleton head) pretty good for solo and quest play, but I always wanted to hunt some achievements with him like DLC hard modes etc. but because of my ping I couldn't ever push much DPS as DD (in my DD setup, NMA, Briar, Stonefist), so I wanted to switch him to the tank. Will this build be viable for such a goal? Or should I better have another armoury slot with full dedicated tank sets like Drake Rush, Yol, etc? Given that I still do quests and solo runs on this character.

If you’re going to be tanking for dlc hard modes you NEED dedicated tank sets. That is difficult content. Your team needs you to be fully dedicated to tanking, same as the Dps and healer who should all have high end and dedicated builds. For future reference, a setup like that (your solo setup with briar etc.) would not be hitting hard enough for a hard mode Dps build. You would need a true endgame build. I know that’s what everyone hates to hear but it’s the truth. It’s the reason why groups running vet trials are picky on who can participate. Having done vet trials and dlc hard modes myself, they are difficult. You need a dedicated build for whatever role you’re filling

@@SunBro_Talos Yes, I see. I do have a dedicated DPS setup for my Templar as I wrote in my post. I switch to it when I'm doing vet/DLC content. I use an armoury system to change the setups. The thing is that my average ping doesn't let me weave properly, so my max fully buffed DPS in the vet group is peaked at about 50k. So not so close to those 100k people need to cover all the content at ease. So I decided to change the role. As I have a DK tank right now and it's way easier to enter vet and DLC content with him. But all the achievements I get are also going to him, not to my main... So I have 2 Armory slots - one as my main solo/arena and the second one as pure DPS build. the question is - should I replace my solo 2H build with this one HTM suggesting, and should I replace my DPS build with a dedicated tank build. (I see no sense to buy another armoury slot, as you still need to carry all your stuff with you and inventory slots are finite)

My biggest issue with Templar tanking. Is that the class has no form of hard AE crowd control like a root. Which makes tanking dungeon bosses that spawn adds rough.

My Templar tank has been running Rattlecage forever and since the update it just got better and does exactly the same thing. The only difference between the 2 body sets is Rattlecage used to only give major sorcery and the set you used here used to only give major brutality. Now both sets are the same. My other set that I've been running for a while now is Winters Respite which is triggered by ground effects like my shards and works in the same way as Leaching or Crimson for me. I have also thought about using Olorime in place of that to be more of a healer tank. Which reminds me, where was your taunt on that build if it's supposed to be a dps/healer/tank?

He had the 2nd shield/1-hander skill slotted(can't remember name). That's so the shield/1-hander from Maelstrom would give him back some sta/mag(use ability, then next full swing gives you back both, +1500 or something). That does kinda make that shield/1-hander wasted if you had to swap out that slotted skill though. You'd just have to decide what you wanted to give up. I really like the build he posted, but that is kinda a flaw with it.

@@slippyC73 Heroic Slash was the skill he had equipped which is a staple skill for tanks but not a taunt. Perhaps if this build swapped out 2 skills for Inner Rage and then put a frost staff on the back and used Frost Clench you could call this a dps/tank but I don't really see the group utility of this build. As mentioned my Templar tank is already all 3. My front bar is Heroic Slash, Puncture, Biting Jabs, Backlash and Spear Shards. This bar has a taunt, ultimate recovery, hp recovery damage mitigation and reflection an ability that has a synergy that also triggers my Winters Respite which is a group heal. Already I'm able to maintain agro, restore resources, damage and heal on a larger scale, I won't be swapping my build to this.

Instead of Sword and board, what about vma dual wield and skills would be flurry, blood craze,puncturing sweep (Magicka morph with heal), radiant glory and solar barrage? Dropping heroic slash (of course) and Revealing flare? Won't get the major protection but would get a good heal from sweep and blood craze. Would rotation would be something like solar barrage, flurry, blood craze, and sweeps. Be a more difficult rotation. But the vma dual wield give flat, large increase to weapon\spell damage when using flurry and single dot. I was thinking, need more heals on front bar, such as sweeps. And I don't like skills like revealing flare. It's not a usable slot but I always end up accidentally hitting hit, even in my prime, which waste resources. Edit:wouldn't be a paladin theme

nice build even if I think it has rather more magica abilities to take care of than stamina. coming to the sets, well drought king slayer is like rattlcage only good for two classes in the game not having the buffs those sets provide, templar and necromancer. this sets frees two slots what is alot on hybrid builds. cockthorn as a monster helmet , haven't used it since my early days as a templar healer and dropped it quite fast for earthgore, both sets only for healer to prevent one shot after effects. it's my opinion. I would rather use something giving more damage. burning spellwave, it's a overall good set I think for a magic DK extremely strong but yah templar can handle it just fine.

Do you understand how ESO works? Every build needs a spammable skill. Templars luckily already have a spammable skill in their class kit, being puncturing sweeps.
