In today's video, Spy plays the role of Veteran Dungeon Healer for a group in Depths of Malatar in ESO.
We put up a build for a Nightblade Healer build not too long ago. Now, it is time to showcase that healer build in a vet dungeon in a more accurate gameplay setting. So, Spy ques up for a random daily vet dungeon.

No one like DoM? I LOVE IT! It is the ultimate melee test in all TESO before Kynes Aegis. The Aurorans hit like a mule. Maybe people don't like it cuz the First Boss Venom is soooo nasty. Many Vet dungeons can be run today with full DPS self healing or 3DPS one Buffer Healer. But Vet Malathar really needs a good Tank a really good one.

I was interested in rolling a healer in ESO. As someone coming from traditional tab target healing,this looks so weird. Like most of the time it seems ppl are not taking damage at all and then one guy gets blown and you don't have directed heals to save him so you just end up blowing up your aoe heals. Just looks..inefficient in a way. Like, how can you tell a good from a bad healer when 90% of the time your heals don't do anything? Sincerely curious about it.

So, this isn't going to be the ultimate answer, but it's a good place to start: How much did I depend on my own survivability? That's essentially how I look at it. Tanks have a job, DPS have a job, healers have a job. If the boss keeps killing the healer/DPS - bad tank (not always). If the fights/activities are dragging on - low damage (not always). The same idea applies to healers - dead group members are usually a sign of low healing numbers (not always). Incoming heals and incoming damage cancel one another out. If enough healing to cancel most of the damage is happening, the healer is playing their part. This is usually achieved by maintaining your skill rotation, and using "oh sh!t" heals as-needed. We could go into details about specific choices each player makes if we wanted to - gear, stats, etc. It seems best to start simple though. Was that helpful?

Is it hard to level healers while solo? I imagine since you have to have healing staves and healing skill tree perks equipped to level them that leveling solo would be quite difficult with very little damage perks available to you

If you decide to be a healer, or a tank, the leveling process is different. Is it harder? Not exactly. It is a more creative process though. Almost all of the difficult content is also group content.

As an outright explanation towards that, when you start playing as healer or tank you will have disadvantages - and that is exactly why you start them out as dps no matter what at least for non-group content, every class skill-line will level at same pace if you have at least one skill of every line slottet; with the added benefit that when you hit level 50 weapons and world skill lines will progress faster; you can even start leveling the other lines too by slotting an ability as an inactive skill. both would start off as a magicka DPS using destro staves, as both tanks and healers will need them; then you slot a respective skill of the other needed skill-line on said bar (meaning resto or one hand and shield) they will passively level up the line for you. Both healers and Tanks are to focus Support over their own benefit, meaning buffs over healing value, and buffs over you taken damage.
