Dr. Sledge, I discovered your channel a couple of months ago and let me say that I so much appreciate your videos. Legitimate factual information about esoteric topics seems to be very hard to come by. I was thinking about this earlier today: channels like this with the more scholarly and "boring" (heavy quotations) tend to have a smaller, but overall more grateful fan base than the more "entertaining" (heavy quotations again) channels. We may not be the biggest fan base in the world, but we are eternally grateful for your extensive research and knowledge. Thank you Dr. Sledge!

Thank you once again, Dr. Sledge. You’re breadth of knowledge and sense of humor keep me.. spellbound. I almost laughed out loud when you mentioned the whole Saving Throw to stave of poverty thing! But it was the “moisture” content implied that made me understand the Cloud Presence I saw across the Northern Horizon on Easter Eve Evening right around Sunset. My impression was that it was Solomon, but now I’m sure it was he. He looked nearly like the image in this text.. oddly.. but his robes and beard were luminous, as if made from the palest rainbow’s Light.. which optically speaking was already well beyond the “traditional” optics, but his face was quite kind, and his arms were outstretched. I think you used the term “aeromancy” in a previous lecture about the sins punishable as witchcraft by the medieval Catholic Church. I used to say somewhat jokingly that if I’d been born 600 years ago, I’d have been burned at the stake… but the older I get, the more convinced I am that it’s true! But seriously. You’re standing there watching the clouds at sunset and the entire sky is enveloped with Scenes that could only be painted by God or those who have both the vision to see and the skills to reproduce such things… and I have only the eyes. How can I Not Look? It seems to me, it would be Rude towards my Heavenly Sponsors who have taken the opportunity and time to Paint these Divine Vistas… how can that be sin? Idk. I’m just the one who’s watching.. and I’m praying.. but I’m also trying to understand. It’s tough being a creature seeing well beyond my current pay grade… but it’s a heckuva View! Thanks, Doc! Happy Easter, from my house to yours!🦋 Blessings!🤗

I just happened to read The three Magical Books of Solomon because i saw it in the local university library last week. this is exactly what i need to help make sense of this stuff. this episode answers many questions that were burning on my mind and i really appreciate your perspective on how the text is "living" and to be used as a working manual. its really beyond me why these ancient magicians put so much effort into figuring out which talisman to use at which hour on which day for whatever spell but, regardless, they've given me a lot really fun reads! thank you, Dr. Sledge.

@@steviechampagne In my humble opinion, messing with things that Hold great power by those with little understanding is a recipe for disaster, Solomon was bestowed this gift by God himself, Solomon was one of thee most brilliant men in history, too many fall into this trap of attempting to practice his magik, which God had approved of, only to fail terribly and become possessed, not even by there knowing later down the line, falling out of favor of the Lord, and more into witchcraft, Every single Mage, or practitioner of High level magic, eventually succumb to the spirits they attempt to work with or die a horrific death, and most of the time don’t even realize it a. either at all, or b.until it’s too late, is it worth eternal damnation and a loss of your one and only soul to participate in things we are told not too? i am genuinely curious to why people think they posses more occultic knowledge than solomon, even aleister crowley , succumbed to this. Why is this worth doing in any capacity?

The great thing about Magico-folk Traditions, even in a modern ceremonial context, is that it's so diverse and almost all aspects can be interchanged or augmented. So, what is the true Magic? The Operator. As we see in many cultures spanning thousands of years there are so many Magical formularies and operations that as long as there is a sense made from of by the operator things can come of the work, most of the time. There are some things that are absolutely meaningless and bunk, but just as poetry if there is a meaning in the formula, there can be meaning derived therefrom to bring about desired change. Such as the subtle red string tied around the finger, or carrying hidden seals of protection. Magic is real and works. Even if only on a subtle level.

Hygromancy might have been meant as a synonim of what we call today "internal materialisation" in magic. In contemporary magic terminology, there are two types of materialisation - internal - which affects the human body by influencing the mollecules of water inside it and external materialisation which influences the surrounding world by manipulating the mollecules of air.

I love the hygromanteia, it's my go-to source for talisman construction apart from the picatrix. The PGM is your friend.

Hey, Doctor Sledge! Huge fan of the channel! I’m in the early stages of a production of Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe going up on stage in Toronto in October. I was wondering if you had any interest in covering Faust as a figure of history as well as a “character type” and how the Faustian Bargain has impacted popular views of the occult in the modern world. As always, glad for the context and information and grateful to have your channel as a resource! VENE VENE MEPHISTOPHELES

I think "hygromantea" has to do with the method of divination mentioned in the bible that is done, where he asks yhwh to make an area under something moist as a yes to the question, then dry it out to confirm the yes. From Judges 6:36
