Just built a custom but i accidentally burned and melted a small area on the pin cardtridge reader. Im glad i found your video because i didnt know that you have to de-solder all those pins.

Whats that flux do? I'm completely new to this, iv just seen your video where you backlight a gbc and it was awesome
@esotericsean4 жыл бұрын
Flux helps the solder flow, so if you have flux on a solder joint and apply heat it will make it a bit easier/cleaner to remove or attach components. Solder itself usually has some flux built in so when you melt the solder the flux melts along with it. But that flux is long gone from old components that have been soldered many years ago.

I don't even have a gameboy and just use my 3ds for games i ant to play, but I stay subbed for the great content as I like to tinker for fun and your content just speaks to me. I do really need to get a hot air/ reflow station :D
@esotericsean4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jeremi! The 3DS is amazing and I love it too. The hot air station is pretty interesting! I think you can definitely get by without one, but it speeds things up.

@@esotericseanOh yeah I have my trusty Hakko station and I do lots of mobo and other pc part repairs on the side, but a reflow would be nice. Keep up the interesting content!

Great video! Question, though, what was the Acetone supposed to do?

I wanted to try and dissolve the white silkscreen layer to reveal the copper traces below it, but it didn’t work. I’m actually kinda glad though cause I like how it looks now. :)

You should cast it all in a block of clear resin

Someone might want to watch this video in case they have a faulty part that needs replacing and want to see the best way to remove a part
@esotericsean4 жыл бұрын
@@ungratefulmango Actually that's a good idea! Maybe I should put timestamps in the description for each part.
