Thanks a lot for this kind of video! because, I know Spine , but Im not an animator. and this kind of video/tuto about animation in Spine is clearly what I'm looking for! thank you!

Excellent series! Just starting to learn the software and this helps greatly! A thing I'd like to add is that the beach ball would not fall slower. They would all fall at the same rate, as gravitational acceleration on earth is the same, 9.8 m/s. The thing that would affect fall speed would be air resistance. But given the fact that they all have the same shape and not drastically different in sizes, I think they'd fall virtually at the same rate.

It's true gravity affects different sized objects the same, but the air resistance is different. Try to animate all 4 different balls falling at the same time, it would not look right! That is the point of this exercise, to think about the objects that you are animating and to find a way to show their movement to look believable. Animation is a caricature of reality! The better you get at stylizing the movement and making it appealing the better animator you will be. The difference in the frames that the balls hit the ground is 1 frame, which is 0.033 of a sec. To me, this timing felt the best, and I tried them all (even all of them hitting at the same time). Try it out, and share your results! In hindsight maybe I made the beach ball too bouncy, but I really wanted to make a distinct difference in materials, hence overdoing it, which is the fun part of animation! But if you want to get all techy about it check the Free Fall with Air Resistance Calculator www.omnicalculator.com/physics/free-fall-air-resistance type for mass 0.1 kg for a beach ball, as they are usually around 100 grams, and 5 kg for an iron ball, and see the difference in the time of the fall

"...but doesn't explain how to apply that knowledge...." Absolutely! Hopefully this video series is more helpful than the previous.

I like everything except for the beach ball. Because it has such low density and is filled with air it's not going to have enough energy to severely squash and stretch the ball. It should squash and stretch minimally and it should snap back to it's regular size quickly. The way it bounces now it's more like a jello-y air ball. Thanks for explaining the new graph editor. Before the new graph editor doing something like this was a pain in the butt. Now the graph editor functions the same way you would rough out a bouncing balls keys on paper. Effectively drawing the line path the ball bounces and putting key marks where you think there will be keys and break downs.

well at 4.48.I had a big problem :" first we select the bone we want as the parent of our new bone, then hold ctrl and select the attachment"..... the very first step and I couldn't make it work. lol I couldn't obtained the same result as shown in your tree. after a while I finally realized why. because on the top of the my tree "filter bones" and other buttons were selected (checked). I had to "uncheck" them to make it work.

I also had trouble making this work. The actual steps are: Select the bone that will act as a parent to your new bone. Hold Ctrl. Click and drag to select the attachments you want to add to the new bone. Release CTRL. Click the mouse at the spot you'd like to create the zero length bone. The first click lets you select items. The second click creates the bone (you can also create bones with length by clicking and dragging instead of just clicking)

Shouldn't the shadow get larger but still dimmer as the ball rises closer to the light source?

Please, please please, rework the hotkey editor. We need something more mature than just a text editor

I followed this video and it seems like Auto Key is not working. I moved my steel-balls bone and nothing is keying or happening in the Dopesheet.

Please make sure you have an animation active. Find "Animations" in the tree and click a visibility dot next to the animation you want to edit. If you have no animations, you'll need to create one.

@@EsotericSoftware I have one created with "4blue and 1 white dot" icon under the running man icon. I manually created the keys at specific times for now, but my graph is showing nothing on it. Were there any breaking changes that I should be aware of between this video and the newest version?
