Espada is Spanish for "sword" and this knife shows it!!

When opened in your hand the Espada allows you to do something few folding knives can boast: It can chop like a sword!

I love the "pocket assist" deployment feature. If you set it right in your pocket or belt, it folds out as you draw it. A lil dangerous, but good for intimidation Crocodile Dundee style.

I know an even bigger folding Knife: The PocketChete from Jörg Sprave with a blade length of 23,8cm (9,37 inches). 5000 of those were made, they were sold within 3 days. Jörg Sprave has a big channel on KZbin, where he featured the PocketChete before sales launch. His last idea was a pantographic folding hunting knife. He has a wooden prototype explaining the mechanism. That thing ain't small either.

There are two larger commercial knives. The PocketChete is larger, but only currently in pre-order. There is also a folding knife that I don't recall the name of. It has a ring lock, and is in no way a tool for self defense, but rather a folding BBQ knife. There is always something larger, but the espada is a pretty darn good knife.

It's a bit overkill tbh, but it is SHARP & HUGE. They are going for about $175 at BladeHQ. If you don't need a folding knife, but want a large blade, I would recommend the "Tanto XII" by Cold Steel. It is literally a hand sword!

Personally I see this as a bit of overkill for self defense, but if you can comfortably carry it, it's absolutely lethal. It's called the "Espada" which is Spanish for "Sword" and it definitely lives up to the name. With two grip points, you can choose to stab or chop. You could also carry it as a foldable machete. A fairly expensive machete, but it is very sharp and heavy, so branches would be no problem. I recommend it because if you want a big knife, this is yer baby!

For sure! You essentially have the length and weight of a small heavy machete. The Haitians drove the French from their islands w/ machetes. A long sharp blade can be a really effective weapon!

I have one and the second time that I carried it the pocket opener fel l off and was lost. Cold Steel will not even answer their phone or respond thru a website. They don't stand behind the defects in their knives.

True, but since it's not really a weapon in any way, it's not a fair comparison. It has no quick deployment and it locks with a rotating ring. There are folding saws that are larger as well. I don't count them either.
