Interestingly, in the case of the Gorenje model featured in this video, the thermal sensor is mounted in the side of the sump housing underneath and not on the door as suggested. Error code E7 or apparent normal operation with no heat (I had both symptoms) is indicative of this sensor being at fault. The resistance of the failed sensor was hovering around 800 Ohms, the replacement reads around 11 KOhms. Replacement part supplied by Espares Item No: ES1643273. Great service!

Hi Jono. To try and identify where the leak is remove the base and level the machine on some supports (bricks or a bench) with the power off. Then pour water in to the base up to the lip of the door and see if you can see where the water is coming from. We should be able to get most parts required but if you are having difficulty identifying any part fill in your information at the following link with a description and we will get back to you: www.espares.co.uk/contact/sales

Hi Roscoe, you can examine the control board as sometimes the connection to the heater relay may 'dry joint' and burn. At this point the problem is likely to be the control board.

So if water does leak internally, is it just ok to drain the tray (to prevent the flood switch from triggering) and you're all done? Or do I need to dry all the components out, and rinse in isopropyl alcohol to prevent short circuit and corrosion?
@eSpares7 жыл бұрын
Hi, as we say in the video the door seal is a splash seal so if the machine is not level or if it foams up from excess detergent the foam can run over into the base. The electrics should be clear of any water in the base (unless something has leaked over them) so usually just draining will resolve the problem. If it re occurs then start investigating for the leak.
@JAYRAY007 жыл бұрын
It's nothing to do with the door seal or detergent. I accidentally disconnected the Sump when there was water in the bottom of the dishwasher. I was trying to see if there was a clog, and took the filter out, and then kept going, and unattached the sump.
@eSpares7 жыл бұрын
The water is unlikely to have damaged the heater, motors or switches in the base as long as there is no water still across any plugs or terminals. In practice this would normally evaporate away if in a normal kitchen within a few days. If it doubt use a hair dryer to blow across any connections that may have got wet.

Hi Denzil, elements are like light bulbs they either work or don't so there is another problem. Hi. I just checked the continuity of a Flow-Through Heating element. I found the reading above 100 ohms following the instructions of the video. Would that suppose a different issue?
@eSpares8 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrei. On a 240 volts supply a heater with a resistance of over 100 ohms would only draw about 2.5 amperes and therefore would produce about 700 watts of heat. Most dishwashers have a heater that uses around 2000 watts of heat so this suggests it is faulty.

Hi Phil, the heater sounds good. The next most common cause is likely to be the control PCB. Check the relay connections as they can get poor soldered joints. If these look OK check for continuity from the board to the heater, if this is OK suspect the PCB.

Does the flow through heater also dry the dishes? My AEG Favorit50879U does complete it's washing cycle, but doesn't dry the dishes properly. If I open the door just after it is finished the air coming out of the dishwasher is barely tepid, before it developed this problem the air that came out when I opened the door was hot.
@eSpares9 жыл бұрын
+perdaniel99 To dry dishes most dishwashers will heat the water and dishes very hot and then refil the sump with cold to provide a surface for the steam to condense onto. If this final heat phase is getting warm not hot it would suggest the heater is not remaining on long enough and we would suspect the thermostat www.espares.co.uk/search?SearchTerm=DST1113160004 Note: manufacturers advise opening to vent the steam away as soon as the cycle finishes and the latent heat of the crocks will continue to evaporate the water off. This may not be enough to dry 'puddles' on the tops of cups or plastic items that do not retain heat as well.
@perdaniel999 жыл бұрын
eSpares I have managed to find and extract the thermostat. Do you know how to test it?
@eSpares9 жыл бұрын
+perdaniel99 This type of thermostat is basically a switch that remains closed until it has reached the working temperature. in other words on a meter set to resistance it will measure as if the meter probes are connected if it is ok and remain closed unless heated to nearly boiling point.
@perdaniel999 жыл бұрын
eSpares I think it must be 2 switches, as the thermostat has 4 connectors.
@eSpares9 жыл бұрын
+perdaniel99 Sorry I think I may be incorrect with my previous answer. Regular thermostat work as described earlier. The type shown at: www.espares.co.uk/product/es1083605 looks like a thermistor type. That type vas a typical resistance of between 2000 ohms and 20000 ohms that will vary with temperature. If you get a reading in this range we would advise to replace it as we cannot give the exact resistance value to confirm if faulty.

@eSpares8 жыл бұрын
Interesting one this, If the sensor is telling the control board that the water is already warm enough the cycle would continue so it may be a sensor or board problem. The heater is also used to dry the load, if no heat is found during the drying phase I would just double check the heater for continuity with a meter.
@superunboxing57048 жыл бұрын
eSpares Thanks for that, I have taken the flow through heater out and as you are chatting to a total novice here I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what I need to set the multimeter to and what it should read if it is working/faulty.

A typical reading for this would be around 30 ohms on the lowest resistance range. Select the range and connect the probes to confirm the short circuit reading then measure the resistance. A faulty heater would give the same reading as when the probes are not connected.

Hi, This is a really interesting recording, congratulations for spending time to put this info together. I have a dishwasher that looks a lot like the one in the video. It is Ariston LD44. I get the error AL01 - which means "anti-flood switch operated". The anti-flood switch looks quite like the one in your video at min 04:00. But there was no water there. Still for some reason the DW still believes that there is. I did measure the switch with a multimeter. I do not remember which of the three pins should be used. How does this circuit work? Should it be initially an open circtuit and it should be closed when the flooding occurs (by lifting that polystyren) ? Or should it be the other way around? Initially closed and it gets to open the circuit when the level of water rises? I tried both ways, still no luck. I even totally removed the wires - so that the circuit remains open - and still no luck. I even tried a shortcircuit on the two wires that go to the base of the DW - still no luck. What else could make the DW believe that there is a flood? When I plug the DW to electricity, I get the evacuation pump working immediately, even without me turning the DW on. After that. code AL01 is displayed. So clearly DW thinks there is water somewhere and I cannot figure out why. I tried to find thermistors - but I guess they are not involved in this problem? Wishing you a great year in 2017, Stefan
@eSpares8 жыл бұрын
Hi Stefan, most anti flood switches are 'normally closed' and open when the water is detected. This ensures that if left disconnected the machine will not operate. If the wires are to the connections that are closed and the anti flood warning is present it suggests a fault with the control board.
@stefanninu40038 жыл бұрын
Hi, Thank you for your answer. I could not measure if the circuit is open or closed during the startup procedure for the dishwasher. However, I eventually managed to make my Ariston dishwasher start - after totally disconnecting the anti-flood switch and also disconnecting the pressure switch. So I simply took out the wires for both the : - anti flood switch - the pressure switch Now the machine starts, which is good, it starts the washing cycle, eventually it stops with an error code "AL08" - which means "Heater Time-Out". Indeed, the heating element does not seem to be triggered, it does not start heating the water. Therefore I went and opened the washing machine myself, I found the heating element. I applied A/C to it - and it does work fine, it starts to get heated.... So I would say that this heating element should still be valid, since it does heat up when I apply 230 V to it directly. What do you think, guys? Could it be the PCB ? The PCB Board part number is "4303 303 3240.8".... I wonder if you have such a part # available.... Or could I just solder some of the wires on the PCB ? Opinions are most welcome. Thank you, Stefan
@eSpares8 жыл бұрын
Hi Stefan, on some machines (if not all) the heater is protected by the pressure switch and will not come on until the correct amount of water is in the machine. So if you have removed this you are likely to have introduced this problem. We do not recognise the board number, find the full model number (and may be the production number) to identify the correct part.
@stefanninu40038 жыл бұрын
Hi, it looks like this dishwasher has a pressure switch but also a high pressure switch - HPS. I accidentally swapped the wires of the Flood Switch with the wires of the HPS. After fixing that, I get no problems with the flooding warning. It is strange that at this model, Ariston LD44, the flood switch is initially open - which confused me a lot. After all these, finally I get back to the point where I get "heater timeout" - error code AL08. I checked the heater (in-flow) - by applying directly electricity to it, it works. On the PCB - I see there is a relay - that seems to get involved when activating heating, since there is high elecricity (almost 10 A ) . I will try to get a good guy to help with checking this relay, if it is in good shape or not. In the worst case I may need a new PCB, I wonder if you have one available.... Thank you, Stefan
@eSpares8 жыл бұрын
Check the relay where it is soldered to the control board as the connections can burn. If the unit is 'drawing' ten amps it would suggest the heater is working. Have you checked for any warmth before the machine 'times out'?.

Hi Josh my Dishwasher is quite new (only 2 Months old) has developed a leak while its draining ive checked The Drain Hose at the joints and no sign of any leaks in the pipe when its draining, Its just when drains water goes all over the floor under the machine it fills ok but when it starts draining the problem starts BTW we do have an engineer coming to have a look at it as its still under warranty but it would be great to have any of your thoughts on this our machine is very similar to the one you have in the video
@eSpares9 жыл бұрын
rocky5554 Remove the drain hose from your plumbing and offer to a bucket. Then start a cycle and once full slowly open the door to stop and cancel the cycle. The machine should empty when the door is closed again. if it is leaking when emptying into a bucket you know there is a leak on the machine. IF ok check your waste plumbing as this is unlikely to be covered by any warranty.
@rocky55549 жыл бұрын
eSpares Hi Josh well the engineer called yesterday and he found the problem to be that the inlet hose had worked loose at the base of the machine it was already connected when the washer was originally delivered in the box so i did,nt check it i just plumbed everything in and it been working fine till now, he said the pressure of the water and movement of the water had knocked it loose, i asked him why its not leaking when its at standstill he just said the movement of the pipe at the joint was opening and closing because it was loose and that was the problem i now have a question before he left he said i could connect the dishwasher inlet pipe to the hot water out let under the sink and discard the Y piece i have on the cold outlet for the dishwasher and washing inlet pipes i know there,s enough pressure in the hot outlet to run the dishwasher but would this be ok ? ?
@eSpares9 жыл бұрын
rocky5554 Some people think they may save money by supplying heated water to washing machines or dishwasher. Modern machines only fill to the level required for best results. They heat the water to the ideal temperature without wasted hot water in the pipe to the tank. And machines also should rinse with cold water anyway. So unless your machine has a hot and cold input and you have cheap hot water (solar) then in our opinion it is best to supply from cold.

Hi Mark, you can test the heater with a multimeter, a typical reading for this would be around 30 ohms on the lowest resistance range. Select the range and connect the probes to confirm the short circuit reading then measure the resistance. A faulty heater would give the same reading as when the probes are not connected.
@jmy60506 жыл бұрын
eSpares okay I've tested both terminals and I'm getting 28.5 Ohms. So the element seems okay. Wondering if it could be the thermostat or pressure switch?
@eSpares6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, that would indicate the element is fine, did it fill up fine and start to wash OK. At this stage, it doesn't sound like the pressure switch but it could be the thermostat or possibly the board.

eSpares I don't think it was filling. Seemed to run for a long time IE motor humming but not start the wash cycle. The plastic tube that brings water up to the top spray arm only half fills (kind yo yo effect - up and down but never reaching the top). Could this relate to the water inlet valve?

Hi my dishwasher is running really hot ,it blew the u bend pipe under the sink as it drained as it was so hot ,no leaks ,it otherwise works fine ?
@eSpares6 жыл бұрын
Hi Sharon. Dishwashers usually dry the load by rinsing in boiling water and then emptying so will often discharge very hot water. This should not be a problem even for plastic pipes. With the very cold spell we have just had in the UK the problem could be due to Ice blocking the pipes. It is unlikely there is a problem with the dishwasher so retry it once the pipes are repaired.

The error E60 is 'heating time out' this is where the machine has stopped the programme as the control board has not recognised it has heated the water. +phillgr2 The lights may be indicating a 'fault code'. The first thing a dishwasher will attempt to do once a cycle starts is run the pump to clear any spills from the sump. If the pump does not run check this as it may be blocked and the machine maybe indicating this is the fault.

Hi Cindy, If the dishwasher is attached directly to the plumbing under the sink as in the video shown at this link below then the hose must rise from the pipe work to prevent it draining into the dishwasher: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaC9aqSeiJJ-macm29s This often becomes a problem if the pipework gets blocked so the water cannot drain quickly so backs up and runs down the next easiest way into the dishwasher. After you have corrected the dishwasher hose you may need to put a drain cleaning fluid down the sink to remove any fat or food debris that has built up.

thank you for responding it was actually the food disposal that went bad and was not working properly and it was full of debris so we had to replace the food disposal but now the dishwasher is not working in the lights are flashing we unplug the dishwasher but it's still not working the lights are just flashing

Hi Cindy, most dishwashers have a shallow tray at the bottom of the cabinet that is designed to catch any leaks. This will fill up and a float inside will rise stopping the machine. Lean the machine to one side to allow the water to drain out and then retry as this should then allow the dishwasher to work again.

Hi, my dishwasher got stuck at 25min before end of cycle and got really hot, with heating element on and no water moving. The cycle would not progress so I stopped and cancelled it. Since then, it no longer sprays water, even on a rinse cycle. Any suggestions on what has gone wrong and what I can do to fix it?

Hi Sebastien, check the motor as it sounds like it may have a blockage but also test the pump because if that fails it will cause the symptoms you are describing.

Howdy there .... I have a whirlpool dishwasher that is not drying the dishes the model # is wdf510paysb6

+casey carl Your machine will fill with hot water for washing but for drying it will rinse the load and then heat to get the crocks hot before draining. The heat left will then evaporate off the water but you can help by opening the door as soon as the cycle finishes (bleeps?) as this helps the steam disperse. Also a rinse aid helps the water run off the crocks and plastics do not hold the heat so do not dry as well. Check when it bleeps there is steam in the cavity, if not check the heater.

how much for a repairman? I have a 8 year old 200 dolalr dishwasher, should I just buy a new dishwasher?
@eSpares7 жыл бұрын
Not sure how much a repairman would cost were you are but it is almost certainly cheaper to repair it your self with the help of our videos. What is the problem and model number of your appliance?.

Hi my zanussi ZSF6126 Dishwasher is leaking from the water hardness dial can I fix this are is this a big job for zanussi
@eSpares9 жыл бұрын
+Mals Burns If it is leaking internally into the base the part will need to be replaced. We do not have a video on that but if you watch other dishwasher videos it should give you an idea if this is a job you can do yourself comfortably.

(Saber) Hello. My dishwasher.samsung model: dw60h3010fv. The salt light not extinguished ??! Please: If the salt light does not go out refill the tank and wait for the cycle to end. If you have soft water that requires no salt, the light is constantly lit. Bonjour Saber,Si la lumière du sel ne sort pas, remplir le réservoir et attendre que le cycle se termine. Si vous avez de l'eau douce qui ne nécessite pas de sel, la lumière est constamment allumé.

Dishwasher was PITSOS DIL4205/10 My problem:The exit main water pipe of the house got blocked from food disposal and caused flood and so the dishwasher was overfilled with water and stop working...there was no water coming in and i thought maybe something got stacked in the pump or the filters because the water of the flood was not clear....so i checked the filters, checked the water pump from inside, checked the filters of the aqua stop, blew air from the pipes, checked the little holes for salts, plugged it out...nothing....then i filled the dishwasher with clear water to see if its working...it was working ok....so this way i wanted to spot the problem...when i took out the water then again stopped working,,,,,no water income....so i thought it has something to do with the pump or the pressure....so i started disconnecting the pipes to take the dishwasher out so i can open it from below...as i turn it so the back face the ground some more water was spilled...i learnt that some models have something like a dish below that after a flood they are full and they are not letting the machine works....i thought maybe now its OK...i connected everything again but again nothing happened...so i decided that i have to open it from below to check everything...but then i remembered when i was surfing and reading forums for hours in the net that someone said something about reset the machine....so i found the manual of the dishwasher read about the reset mode (in my model was pressing together button A and C for 3 seconds)...Sorry for my bad English my mother language is Greek...peace

Thanks Harris for the details of your problem. Your model is not one we are familiar with but it shows that although the advice given is correct for many machines there can always be differences. Hopefully anyone with your machine may find this information and quickly identify the problem through your information. 😊 👌👍
