Everyone asking why she doesn’t release on spotify etc. it’s because the idea of the album was to improvise new songs and record them in 3 days. There would only be 7,777 copies available (if I remember correctly). The copies were priced a bit more than your regular $9.99 digital download; a CD was $50 and I think vinyl was upwards to $250-$350 a copy. Anyways, if she were to re-release, it defeats the purpose of this - the idea that some of our best work comes out as it’s being created and improvised. And like most of the music we make, it’s created then vanished into thin air. This is one of the best songs on the album though :) Glad I could snag a copy of the album when I did 😄
@ImperfectDionysus3 жыл бұрын
Well said! I hope you, like me, were lucky to grab one of her rare vinyls! Only the test pressing vinyls were up to $200+ bucks, however I was fortunate to grab one of the last few $60 vinyls and attend most of the 3 day live stream. It was truly magical and very inspirational and I wish others would take from her examples and lead as artist. Much of today is so capitalized and commercialized to her point so we could all learn from Esperanzas approach. 💚 The exposure project is forever with me. 💚

@@kardRatzinger In snippet 8 thing they are listening Esperanza's bass and vocal ideas for the song and preparing for the recording which is probably in snippet 9 which I can't find. But the actual recording, just the demo without the preparing in the studio is also there. It's called Esperanza Spalding's EXPOSURE (just that, no snippet or anything) on her own channel, it's 6:54 long, and the screenshot of Robert Glasper's head with the headphones on is the thumbnail.

Lyrical wise, (IMO) She is encouraging us to be honest about our supplications, answer to them, and take nothing less than what you desire. Also, to match your morale with your goal as far as the chorus of the song...You are looking up at all the possibilities, but you are still trying to gain provision from low places. Morale and Goal should be congruent. That's what I have. I'm sure others have interpretations...This is a lovely song :-) Commenters also have the lyrics posted...
