She's got a cadence even in the way she speaks. It's fascinating and mesmerizing to listen to her talk. Even as young as she is, Esperanza's got a poise, and charm, and definite wit about her that's well beyond her years. Awesome artist.

Honored I had the opportunity to see her perform live at Ohio State tonight! In just 90 minutes she spoke about counter-points, active listening, call and response, creative improvisation of the bass and how all of those things can be applied to conversation and every-day life. Such an influencer, incredibly well-spoken.

It took me only 2 seconds listening to her on the radio, singing "Ponta de Areia", to go crazy. And that melody line on the piano, my God, that's hypnotical. I'm brazilian, and heard that song thousands of times, by many artists, but I was never touched like that by any of them, even from Milton Nascimento, the composer himself. I never wanted the song to end, but at the same time I wanted to know who was singing, so I could look her up, and get to know more about that unbelievable voice.

She is soooo sweet. I have a daughter who looks like her and she is only ten (hair included). She has only gone and chose a trombone at school. I said to her..why didn't you choose a flute or trumpet like your sister.. something smaller. She smiled 😂. She has a heart to play the guitar too. It's difficult to find good teachers for young brown kids. My other daughter wants to be a drummer. They currently go along with me when I sing at church weekly practice. Three of them can sing. Just praying for them. This world is full of bad influence on our children. This musician is just the real deal. Great role model for young girls. Praying all stay well with her.

Esperanza isn't in the top 10 bassists alive but her personality ,voice ,stage presence and sex appeal puts her in the 10 most beautiful woman in the world ,that big beautiful natural afro makes her even sexier and In top 5 beautiful woman ,take all her attributes and she's on the same level as Stanley Clark because music is about the feeling not precision technical ability ,and very few bassists make people as happy as Esperanza ,she's a truly elegant woman .

I think I'm in love with Esperanza Spalding. For so many reasons. Her life's story is so similar to mine. She's a warm personality. Not to mention she's incredibly talented and just beautiful. She loves Bossa Nova and jazz fusion, and I grew up loving the stuff. She even grew up with Yo-Yo Ma as a major influence, as did I. Now I HAVE to get famous as a musician, just to meet her and date her before some other guy does! My instruments of choice are guitar and electric bass.

@joysworld53 Agreed in part, however one most certainly does "catch" them, as it is always a kind of pursuit (if she learns to "choose well" that is, instead of taking every joe smoe that winks at her). After the man has proven himself worth her time and consideration, then her heart, he should continue to show her why she made a good choice. in the same way, she should continue to show him why he did the same. Love is certainly a two way street where pride has no room. It's a team sport.

@Thandiwandi Ffrom my perspective, when one marries, you both are no longer two, but one, and you give yourself to the other person. It's a done deal, equal gift. "I am yours, you are mine" is a thing of true love.I do see how you could take my words wrong, however, I will warn you to choose your battles carefully. In the fight for equal respect for women, women can become brash, argumentative, and "naggy" as men would call it. Those type of people lose respect and gain contempt, male or female.

@ludious73 hey thanks so much for taking my comment into consideration I really appreciate it! I think what joysworld53 had to say pretty much sums up my argument. I do not think you are the bad guy...the way were are socialized to think about language, and also the way language is constructed...and further more the way you use langauage can imply power and/or subjugation. I don't think it's anyone's fault though! I just wanted to let you know as a woman, that's how i percieve it.
