I’m new to schmups at 54 but this is amazing to me. I do esport car sims too so am actually used to a certain degree of lag! I’m never going to 1CC arcade mode but enjoying my new love. A good session before a race gets my reflexes going and is quite zen. And yes I do use Switch OLED in handheld on a stand to play TATE. Fine for me.

Personally I'm not even all that much of a fan of Galuda 2, but I gotta say, this is one hell of a solid port of an objectively really impressive game. Really enjoying it so far. Definitely has me hyped for the Dodonpachi Resurrection port. I hope LiveWire is making bank off of these Cave ports, would love to see some more.

Had some budget restrictions so extremely late to the party but JUST got this now (for a steal). Never played it before. Not big on the character ship shmups unless the hitbox is shown at ALL times but this looks very promising still so am very excited. Galuda 2 is one of my favs on 360 and right now i'm so into the switch port in handheld. Feels awesome especially on the slowdown side. The Omake mode is still the greatest shmup mode for me :) So excited to get dfk on my switch as I love this as well!

I can say the port is fantastic . Ironicatly ( escuse my english i m french ) i m very happy that cave shmup aren t port at same time on switch but one by one , and yearsafter other shmup . Like that , New shmup players appreciate and take more with each one

Of course I bought it Day 1. We need to send a message to Livewire that we very much want all of these Cave 360 releases ported to Switch and then some. What in the world will it take for DOJ to finally be playable on modern platforms? I play it through emulation, sure, but something like an M2 Shot Triggers release seems like a no-brainer to me. It's like the epitome of Cave shmups at their peak.

It's a great time to be a shmup fan! Downloaded at noon last Thursday and played while watching the Sony PS5 showcase. I just wish it had save states, but for $20, compared to the $70 I've dropped on the M2 Shottriggers games, I'm not complaining.

Picked up the game, got a 1-All in the standard game mode, Novice difficulty with Ageha on my first play session. So a very approachable 1cc on Novice mode for anyone watching who is curious. I'm super terrible at shmups. So if I can get an easy 1cc on anything, you know you can too.

As a newer player I'm always into somewhat easy 1ccs, but I worry this one might be too easy. I collected the Novice Original in Mushihimesa after a few hours and a week of trying, but I'm walled pretty hard by Normal Mushi. If I understand it correctly this game's Novice is easier than Mushi, but its main game types are even harder, so it seems worse off for me in both categories. A bit of a shame because I really dig the aesthetic.

For past years the only way for me to play Galuda 2 has been on MAME (dont own 360). Right now I've spent a good amount of hours on Switch. I haven't had the time to really do a full comparison but I'd say Galuda 2 on MAME isn't too bad. When playing the game you feel the slowdown, but at the same time it seems like some are missing. However it's not as bad as DFK on MAME where it feels like there's NO slowdown at all!

I don't have an Xbox 360, I was worried by the difficulty and the performance... but I bought it on Switch on the release date, I don't regret it and I like it a lot! Novice difficulty is really approachable, there are a lot of versions and options... a shmup that can be enjoyed by everyone! I hope LiveWire will release all Cave library on the Switch... I love also Mushihimesama that is amazing, the ost and the particular organic environment is really something else! Now I'm doing the countdown for Crimson Wings, this is a really great period for shmup lovers! I didn't expect it to arrive, it has been a surprise for me! From now to December there a lot of releases... I couldn't be more happier!

I wonder if a port of Espgaluda 1 will ever appear, apart from the PS2 version. I love Espgaluda 1 and own it, but I don't even know how to get the Japanese version to work on a European pal PS2 anymore. An Arcade-perfect/ HD-Graphics port would be so awesome! M2 please help!!

@@TheElectricUnderground The cave ps2 ports are pretty good in general apart from the filter in some games that makes forcing 240p on mushi and ibara look like crap due to heavy shimmering. Same problem with the psykio ports on the ps2 for the most part which seem overall worse than the cave ports. I would love to see ibara rereleased. Gotta pray for more m2 ports on modern consoles, i guess :D gimme Batrider

Espgaluda 2 Normal was said to be so brutal it’s rated 5 points higher than Dodonpachi 1-ALL in a Japanese shmup difficulty rating… Then there is the Espgaluda 2 Arrange Lv. 99*99.

After i play about 2 runs of esp2 my tv begins to flicker a little, where the multiplier icon was before after closing the game. Even worse: on the switches screen in handheld mode the area becomes reddish. Does someone else have that problem or knows if that is fixable?

For those who may be interested, i've tested further and hooked up my switch to my computer monitor, that did not cause any problems or flickering. Maybe an OLED / switch screen thing? idk honestly

If it is the screen, then it is not exclusive to my switch or my TV and if it is other hardware somehow then it is weird that the same doesn't happen on my computer monitor... puzzeling. but it is still an awesome game with very cool boss music.

I already posted this under someone else's Galuda 2 video, but man how I wished there was an in-between difficulty between novice and normal/arcade. Novice is so ridiculously easy it sorta fails as a teaching tool whereas normal and beyond are about as penetrable as a brick shit house.

Crimzon Clover has a decent easy mode. You can't just sleepwalk all the way through it. And Esp.Ra.De has an in-between difficulty between beginner and arcade iirc. Either way, great Video, man.

I don't know if this really helps for lag but I use the Brook's powerbay dock and have controller plugged directly into that and it seems more responsive than the switch doc or the joy-cons. Brook claims it reduces lag but I have seen no one test one, so idk really. But if you need an other dock you may want to look at it.

@Cold Snap I think its spread has more to do with algorithm-friendliness than what the public likes. In any case, it unnecessarily ghettoizes a mainstream genre and really does a disservice. If you talk to older players, many of whom have huge collections, they either have never heard the word because they don't participate in online discourse, or they dislike it, because for 20+ years, nobody in North America used it.

It really sucks that the Switch typically has more lag. I recently bought Darius Cosmic Arcade collection and was hyped to own Darius Gaiden but I don't stand a chance due to the extra lag. Darius 2 is even more impossible. Admittedly I'm very casual shmup player but lag is lag. You take the arcade version with no slowdown plus add an extra frame and it hurts my ability to truly enjoy these gems.

it's not too bad if you have a brooks arcade stick, as that improves the input lag to some degree, but yeah that's why I give more of a nod to the 360 version if you are wanting less lag

It has bad input lag with the joycons, almost like my touchscreen on my android samsung galaxy j3, or my retroid pocket 2 (5 frames of lag on games that should be 1 frame delay). The 3ds had almost virtually no input lag at all, so this is quite jarring

Well, it looks like CAVE will never port any game on pc again. From what I heard, Windows 10 cause too much input lag and it's too much work to work around it, compare to older Windows.

@@TheElectricUnderground depends on the game. I haven’t seen any of the cave games like mushi go on sale. It’s other stuff that goes on sale more like idk hotshot racing, ummm some beaten ups etc. I haven’t seen the higher quality stuff go on sale too often like rolling gunner or what not. But most things are typically on sale in summer or Christmas. Then you got weird ones like Darius collections being on sale at a random time. So to put it shortly haven’t seen shmups go on sale too much, at least the more high profile stuff

@@TheElectricUnderground Sales on Switch are completely up to the publishers (unlike in PS were Sony must allow them to put something on sale) so, in general, lot's of games are on sale every week. Specifically shmups: not very common in my experience but I don't keep tabs on many (got Crimson Clover at $15 a while back and I've seen Caladrius Blaze and Ikaruga discounted a couple of times); never I've seen Super Hydora on sale for example.
