Not saying Notre Dame is a top 5 team, but what really got them the hype is their defense, and all their best guys returning including Xavier Watts. Plus they don't have the greatest schedule.

They certainly have a chance to compete with their defense which is why they usually can stay in every game. Subpar QB play has been the bane of the Freeman tenure thus far.

Righhht, they've had two decent years in a row but to expect them to sustain that for a 3rd consecutive season amd even elevate that is a wild take by ESPN.
