Some of the canadian NBA players that practiced and played with him this past summer were very impressed with him and figured he would have a monster year, they were not wrong. Even head coach Nick Nurse is blown away by his work ethic and how much he has improved last couple years. He said he was a real problem even for the NBA players to contain. Must have given Edey lots of confidence going into this year. Plus Nurse wants him on Canada at world cup this summer with all the NBA players.

Also he's not a one and done player, you know he's fundamentally sound having spent 3 years in Purdue. The fact that he's projected to be a 2nd rd or undrafted player is just weird because he's going to be better than most of the 1st round one and done centers.

@@timdepaulis2487 That is the thing, Big guy down low can still win rings. Everyone watches 3 highlights and assumes your the best team. But look at the Nuggets and Warriors. Ya you can outscore anybody IF your 3s are going in, but if they aren't dropping, points in the paint battle winner always wins because because low post is higher percentage than mid range so more post 2s over outside 2s. I think the Bucks will win the Eastern finals this year because with all the attention put on the 76ers 3s and Celtics assists, when it gets down to the wire in a slog fest, the Bucks have the big guys guys to over power everybody IF the 3s don't fall. Ya Embild can outplay anyone one one one and the Celtics are a great team and the Cavs have great D, but the traditional Banger style play the bucks can play can still win out. Look at them now as the season closes, they have won even when Giannis is out. They can play big even when their 7 foot PW is out.

Media is talking about Wembanyama because as a prospect he dwarfs this kid in every single aspect besides quad circumference. Potential to affect winning, youth, basketball skill, media marketability, star potential, potential to turn an organization into a storied franchise are all in Wemby's favor. His game also fits MUCH better in today's NBA than Edey's game which honestly is more of a 80's-00's type of game that has become niche and rare in the NBA today, not the norm. I admit he's a fantastic athlete, and he has some skills. He also does have excellent coordination for his height--but maybe he shouldn't have spitefully not played basketball until he was 16 and started sooner. While he waited around like that and wasted time his peers got better everyday. The lack of polish to his game is clearly visible when compared to the top prospects he's competing with in the draft. He has even had 2 more years in college to develop than other guys like Scoot Henderson and Wembanyama who just got out of high school last year. Yet they are much more skilled and polished players than him. That doesn't bode well for future projection of their careers if at the start the gap is this wide. Its not like the others aren't continuing to improve as well and you get to a certain age that its really too late to teach someone to be an excellent shooter of the basketball--he's probably past that age already to be frank. So the reality is he will likely never have a jumpshot which again does not bode well for having a star-type NBA career. Durability is not a great argument either. Just because someone has big legs does not mean they won't get injured and big legs means big impact on ankles, feet, knees and hips. Furthermore, a lot of injuries are freak accidents that don't necessarily have to do with someone's weight. Sam Bowie, Greg Oden, Brandon Roy are examples of guys who's legs broke down on them in random ways that didn't have to do with being too skinny. Its a contact sport involving extreme movement and sudden stops and starts--anyone can get injured at anytime. There's no way to predict who will be more durable at this point so that is a flimsy advantage for Edey if you want to claim it. I wouldn't even support the claim because i find the logic to be counterintutive. The way I see it Wembanyama's lighter body would handle an 82 game schedule of cardio running up and down the court better than Edey's thick legs and body lumbering up and down. Extra weight even when its muscle is not always just better, brother.

@@CoachTC23 Victor won’t play center lol, he won’t defend the Embiids and Jokic’s. He’ll play PF. Hardly any PFs are post players anymore. Also Victor has 0 history of any lower body injuries, all his previous injuries have been upper body, so to assume he’s going to be injury prone is purely guessing.

This boy played in Fiba....the coach only gave him 1.40secs he made 5 points against Serbia, the Canadian team coach wasted this boy's talent and skills by not giving him more time to play in the semis...they probably can win against Serbia, Canada lost they lack rebounds and defence under the ring. This boy could be the answer under the ring. ❤

yes and no about lack of shot. Raptors just got Poetll who doesn`t shoot from outside, just gets lots of rebounds, blocks shots, and getting lots of points in close to basket. Edey has great footwork, good hands and is pretty good foul shooter. I still remember hearing Nick Nurse saying, Zach Edey is a problem even for the NBA players, just let that sink in. Lots of players haven`t been around NBA players, Edey already has the experience with a couple summers in. Canada basketball is really helping these young players develop and be around the pros to soak it all up, know one of the reasons Bennedict Mathurin hit the ground running, he even said it helped his confidence being around the NBA players and knew he could succeeed at next level. But yes you are right , he probably will be drafted in second round.

@@zackneskov2006 that’s because most 7’2 + guys aren’t mobile at all. Which leads to awful defense, especially in pick and rolls, which is the number 1 offense type in the nba. Also Victor has no lower body injury history so there’s really nothing that points to him being injury prone besides just being skinny….

20 years ago he'd be better, wouldn't even be a toss up. Wemby wouldn't survive a tougher NBA, neither would Durant. Now the NBA is more skill based than brute force, Wemby is a better candidate today where spacing, 3 point shot and perimeter defence is more important. I don't see that changing any time soon since the rules today benefit the NBA as an entertainment product.
