i’ve been battling cancer since i was diagnosed on my 21st birthday. i regularly watch jimmy’s original speech with him laboring up the steps to accept his award, yet he did it. jimmy laboring up those stairs before even delivering his astounding speech speaks volumes & here we are in 2022 with vitale carrying on the legacy. i will never give up. thank you coach jimmy & vitale & everyone else involved.

Unfortunately, ESPN cut Vitale short in the replay. Because of thunderstorms in my area, the original broadcast was constantly interrupted by the local weather team giving updates. I had to catch a re-airing of the broadcast and was disappointed that of all the ESPY segments, the Jimmy V award recipient's speech was edited for time. It felt like something was missing, so I searched YT until I found it here. Very inspiring and I'm glad I got a chance to hear the whole thing.
