The OSU fans were absolutely justified in their response to losing to _ichigan the 4th straight time. 3 TD favorites at home and we play called the worst game ever. Look at Day’s record vs the top 10 before this season. Fans knew we were better than the product on the field and kudos to Day and Kelly for changing it up. They said it themselves in the beginning; they had a team meeting and a lot of venting happened. Urban Meyer was correct that coaches can’t have it both ways with a great fan base but doesn’t care if they lose. I want to tell Desmond Howard and Notre Dame fans who ran off several coaches for failing but for some reason, it’s only toxic when it’s OSU fans. It’s fans EVERYWHERE. So kudos to Day and this team for winning it all and the future looks bright!
@selmer862Күн бұрын
May I explain the Michigan game to you from a football perspective? Ohio State lost two All-American offensive linemen in rapid succession, and had three days to put together a patchwork line, a move that involved moving the third-best lineman to a new position, and only the right tackle remained in his original spot. College blocking schemes are pretty complicated, so the run blocking, was able to be figured out to a smaller degree, and the number of play options was reduced. But pass-pro...no coach and players on earth can put together effective pass-pro in three days, because it requires working as a single unit. So Ohio State had to simplify the playbook and call conservative plays, something just about everyone noticed. Howard was running for his life, and it was difficult to even run against that great Wolverine d-line. Even then, they came two missed field goals from winning. Fast forward 3 plus weeks to the playoffs. Same players, but with 3 weeks instead of three days to develop as a unit, and they dominated every team in their path. Day, Kelly, and Frye made the best of a bad situation, and never once complained or made excuses, but the fringe part of the fan base that barely understands the intricacies of the game demanded blood, while the coaches and players honed that makeshift line to the best, most dominant unit in the playoff. I wish more people would learn about the game from coaches instead of talking heads whose only job is to create controversy, and rile up the mobile into issuing death threats. Sheesh!
@forgetaboutit106922 сағат бұрын
@@selmer862 don’t patronize me as if you’re the only pleb that “knows” football. 19 runs up the middle for 18 yards. 6 runs outside the tackles for 45 yards. Zero passes beyond 20 yards the whole game and zero targets to Jeremiah Smith in the 2nd half. It was a bad offensive game plan period. End of story. And don’t forget _ichigan was playing without several of their key starters too.

@@selmer862 Ohio State is as good as they have been in a long time and Michigan is as bad as they have been for a long time. The only way for that game to be close was for OSU to try to run between the tackles because that is the one place where Michigan has a personnel advantage. So why do that?

This rivalry has been around since before football in the 1800s. These two states live it. These schools win National Championships. These kids overcame the loss. Quit treating them like they're soft. They will remember how they rallied not how they were treated "unfairly". The portal, coaches coming and going, and other changes have altered college football forever. This (intense) rivalry tradition stands. Thank God.
@Sinvincible2 күн бұрын
I think there is a reality ppl don’t want to acknowledge. And this is bc the playoff format is a much better way to find the best football team. But some ppl seem to think it’s still 2001 when Jim Tressel took over the job after Cooper’s failures vs the team up north and made a specific promise to turn that around. The reality is, with the playoff format, losing to Michigan in Nov doesn’t automatically ruin your season like it did prior to 2014, and especially since expanding the playoff to 12 teams. As an Ohio State alum, I can’t say I’m unhappy with the playoff format, especially after tonight. But back in the late 2000s when I was on campus, I wasn’t necessarily for a playoff even tho I knew how flawed the BCS was. Bc there was something unique and special to college football that made every single week important for big programs like Ohio State. The margin for error during the regular season was slim to none if you were a national championship hopeful. But it’s 2025, and Ryan Day has 10 losses in 6 seasons. Would it be nice if most of those weren’t to Michigan? Yes, of course. But in this 12 team playoff format, he’s giving us a chance every single season regardless of a 1-4 record vs Michigan and, for better or worse, that’s a lot more important then beating Michigan in this version of college football

@@michaelziel7571 You don't even understand football enough to understand why Ohio State lost to Michigan, but I guess stupidity comes automatically with your degree from the Harvard of the Trailerpark State of Michigan. Let me know if you would like it explained to you from a coaching perspective.

It is 4 freaking losses, not one. And it has been since he said he was going to put 100 points on them. 4 losses. Saban never lost 4 in a row to Auburn. 4 losses.

Look Ohio state payed over 20 million for their team they have while Texas and Alabama paid 13 million just a few examples that’s all they had to spend the teams with the most money will keep players and be able to get better players until nil is regulated and kept fair this is what you will have in the future teams who can afford the most will win the most and until the schedules play all big ten sec acc etc schools and not just weaker schools and only one or 2 top 15 schools and strength of schedule matters the 12 team playoff is a joke
@thomas-ko9ijКүн бұрын
Texas and Oregon spent more money, that's common knowledge. And Ohio State spent most of that money to retain CURRENT players.
@selmer86220 сағат бұрын
@@chrisstevens2066 Texas spent $22 million, Oregon $23 million, Alabama almost $18 million, and Georgia, Notre Dame, etc, were all dancing around $20 million. I'm sorry if that gives you a boo boo.

I will always admire coach Saban for what he’s done being a Buckeye fan, he’s the only coach in the SEC that I’ve ever had any respect for!. What I like about him the most is that he doesn’t shy away from telling things like they should be fair or NOT. He knows more about football than any of those guys!!! Go Bucks
