Meanwhile Cincy played with 3 backup offensive linemen and manhandled the Bills at the line of scrimmage, rushing for 172 yards. Allen was anointed the best QB in the League by the media and Vegas even before the season began just because he can make great throws and run over defenders. Where was that on Sunday when they were getting blown out by the Bengals. Where were the Bills team leaders Both on Offense and Defense firing up their teammates on the sideline or in the locker room at half time to stop the bleeding? Allen still had Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis and Dawson Knox to throw the football to. This is the NFL, any team can get beat any Sunday. Keyshawn brings up Burrow potentially going to 2 bowls in 3 years as a point against Mahomes when Mahomes has literally done the same thing. If you're gonna use a talking point on TV, maybe research it first. And Stephen A. making the excuse for Burrow that he was hurt his first year is silly. They were 2-7-1 with him. They weren't going anywhere. It's not like he had a chance at the Superbowl that year too. Now, you could argue that Burrow's wins mean more because he went through "that guy" in Mahomes both times but I think that's a dumb narrative. QBs play the opposing defense. Burrow has been better specifically again the Chiefs defense than Mahomes has been specifically against the Bengals defense. But overall, Mahomes has been better and more consistent in more situations IMO. Even in his "down year" last year, he had better numbers than Burrow across the board.

Allen really played his way out of being in this conversation. After week 1, he looked like the second coming of Cam Newton with less wear and tear. I think people forget how unstoppable Cam was in his MVP season, and Allen looked like he could replicate that but in a more sustainable fashion. Then the turnovers hit. He made it obvious that when he got irritated, he was going to start acting more like prime Jameis than prime Cam. In those tight games, unlike the Allen we saw barely lose out to the Chiefs in last year’s divisional round due to some problematic overtime rules, he became a game losing machine. Turnover after turnover, he lead the league with 30 combined turnovers this year. While I love Joe Burrow, he didn’t have to do much to beat the Bills. Allen did this to himself.

So if this is Burrow vs Mahomes, instead of the Chiefs vs the Bengals, we need to bring up the fact Mahomes has won 2 MVPs, has thrown for over 5k yards two out of five seasons, has hosted 5 straight AFC title games, been to 2 SBs and won 1 of them, WITH a SB MVP. Ah reality is finally starting to kick in. No. Allen is not in the same league as Mahomes or Burrow. Allen is the QB, that can look great in the regular season, is on a stacked team, yet they never do anything special come the playoffs. This season they went into the playoffs with the 2nd best offense, and the 6th best defense and what did they do? The lost at home to the Bengals 27-10 in which the Bengals had the 8th best offense and the 16th best defense. Now yes, their defense was injured, but their offense (2nd best in the league) only could put up 10 points. What a joke. Last year, Bills had the 5th best offense, and the best defense in the league compared to the Chiefs who had the 3rd best offense and the 27th ranked defense, and they lost to the Chiefs 42-36. Then there is 2 years ago, where they lost to KC in the AFC Championship game 38-24 in which the Bills had the 2nd best offense, and the 14th best defense (this season their defense was meh, so some slack there) compared to the Chiefs who had the top ranked offense and the 16th best defense. The last 2 years in particular so many people have hyped the Bills up to be the best in the AFC, that they will beat the Chiefs and are the best of the best, yet not once have they truly come that close to doing this. Looking at how well their offense and defense have typically ranked, in just about every game they lose in the playoffs, they should have been able to win, yet they don't. Bills are quickly becoming a regular season paper team. What I mean is that they do good in the regular season, look great on paper, and get all the hype, but when the big games come round, they flop. Don't want to hear no more Bills hype, not after a 3rd disappointing year in the playoffs. Bengals and Chiefs run the AFC.
