Yeah, there's nothing wrong with benching a young QB till you have a respectable o-line built. If you're a good organization, you should already be on that path at the very least so you shouldn't have to wait 2-3 years. Bad franchises give in to media/fan pressure of playing QBs right now, just because... QBs used to sit for 2-3 years before playing. It worked back then, and it could work now. I mean, I feel like there are a ton of benefits to benching a young QB, especially if you risk a young QB developing bad habits under bad situations or, like you said, you could risk injury. Bottom line: I don't feel the media and fans put an equal amount of pressure on teams to develop players. Like, I don't understand how a young Brady would have lasted on a poor team. He wouldn't have had a chance to develop himself to an all-time great.

Ehhhh the thing is that the Jets are in a really good position to rebuild. It depends on how the GM handles everything but they have draft picks and a some spending money to get a few pieces. Obviously it’ll take more than a year but compared to other bad teams they have a lot more wiggle room.

Since Ryan Day has been qb coach and now head coach at Ohio St. their offense has transitioned from an all spread concept to the passing game being pro style and the run game remaining in the spread. Remember that Dwayne Haskins is not a runner of the ball yet he had great success in the OSU offense because of Day's changes to the offense. Ryan Day was an assistant coach on Chip Kelly's Philidelphia Eagles teams.
