They lost by a game ending field goal & he played almost perfect! the Super Bowl must be the only thing that counts as “anything” because Lamar Jackson even though his playoff performances may not reflect it is likely a 2x MVP. I think there are some nerves at play here which lead to him not performing as well as he could have as he improved quite a bit as a passer

Patrick Mahomes had *Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, LeSean McCoy* (CMAC before CMAC was playing), _and_ he had *Andy Reid.* Before he even won a Super Bowl, Mahomes was being crowned as the "successor" to Brady. Anyone who denies that has never watched football. Purdy is 1 inch shorter than Mahomes, 5 pounds lighter, and he makes the same kinds of plays Mahomes does. But Mahomes is praised, while Purdy is condemned for throwing "almost" interceptions. How many pick-sixes did each throw just this season? You'd be wrong if you think Mahomes threw less than Purdy. Purdy isn't Mahomes, Brady, or Montana. He's Purdy, and all he wants to do is play football. Watching him for 5 minutes, you can see why he's good: he loves what he does.

People are gonna get mad for what I am about to say, but it has to be said. Cam said lamar was a game changer, and Purdy was a game manager. In those conference championship games, purdy played like a game changer while lamar played like a game manager. When lamars reads fell through, he turned into a pumkin. When purdy needed to become Superman, he did. So I can't say purdy didn't show up in the big moment cause he did. And sunday we will see what he will do in the superbowl. Cause people might get surprise.
@cjthaking63028 ай бұрын
Can I ask you what you think a game changer is and what a game manager is.
@ryanj39758 ай бұрын
@@cjthaking6302 I'm happy to answer. Sorry in advance for the long post. On some level, every QB has to be a game manager, in the sense that they have to manage the plays, the clock, run the huddle, etc. In terms of play, a game manager does the bare minimum to win. They hand the ball off, throw mostly check down passes and just don't get in the way. A game changer does all of these things but is able to create off schedule plays, when the play breaks down. They see the field beyond just the play that was called. That's the basic answer. Purdy just not fit the game manager definition. He's proven to be able to succeed when the pocket is collapsing or the play breaks down. Second half of the NFCCG is a perfect example. He's been doing that all season.
@brandonmoyd29428 ай бұрын
Purdy, like Goff, Stafford, & Russ Wilson, are QB’s who are game managers that HAS THE ABILITY to make game changing plays. And yes all 3 QB’s went to the SB with stacked rosters while 2 won (so far) Being a game manager better then being a game changer if you can’t manage the game good Kyler Murray is a game changer Brock is a game manager Brock is a better QB then Kyler
@cjthaking63028 ай бұрын
@brandonmoyd2942 thank you this is what I believe. There wrong with being a game manager. Tom Brady a game manager and he's the goat. Job of a QB is to limit mistakes and get your playmakers the ball. Game changers in small explanation is something not normal in QB world. Josh Allen can truck defensive players. Lamar is a better runner than most RB. They both fail I managing the game. Purdy has made plays great that's what you need to do in playoffs.
@cjthaking63028 ай бұрын
@ryanj3975 the only thing I disagree with is just because the play breaks down or doesn't go as planned and you make a play just makes you a good football player and depending on frequency you will say great. I prefer game managers style than game changers
@cjthaking63028 ай бұрын
Why does everyone hate game managers. Tom Brady is a game managers or field general. Josh Allen can truck and stiff arm defensive players, Lamar can run better than running backs, Patrick can throw the ball like a baseball. To me game changers are QB that can make plays that you can really plan. A QB job is to be a game manager that's the piece Lamar and Allen missing. Patrick talked about needing to learn the game more to be a better game manager. It's okay

I’d you guys watched game tape from Brock’s college game you’d know he already had these abilities. He’s just been “managing” the game so well he didn’t need to create. That’s elite he’s been elite. He’s had bad stretches in games and some INT laden games. He’s played 2 of his worst stretches after having a concussion. Stop ripping on Jimmy. The 49ers wouldn’t have been in any super bowls or NFC Champs games without him. To your points about game changers, how’d the 49ers do when Brock wasn’t playing his best ball and they were still in all those games. Shame on Dan Patrick saying he’s not a game changer. So quick the labels came out on Purdy. Mahomes was crowned after his first start when Alex Smith was still in KC and he’s been getting no calls on his Olines holds for YEARS. Let’s see him perform behind the 22nd pass pro Oline in the league. 🙄I get y’all are covering the entire league, but the 49ers have been Super bowl favorites ALL season and tour narratives have inaccurate and lazy. 👎

Cam Newton had only thee winning seasons in his career and only two playoff wins. He won the MVP in 2015 but lost Super Bowl 50 to an aging Peyton Manning who was playing in his final game and was 60 minutes away from retirement. Cam had two 6-10 seasons, two 7-9 seasons, one 7-8-1 season, played two games in 2018 before getting injured and being cut when the Panthers couldn't find a team willing to trade for him, he was 7-9 in his one season with the Patriots before getting cut, and returned the Panthers where he lost all five games he started before the Panthers cut him again. What a game changer.

He was just a guy throwing max 10 yrd over the middle, glued on the field and pooping his pants when he was in need to scramble. Purdy is a different caliber and the whole team knows about that. And that's what makes Shanahan much more confident. It was not about making plays, the one and only goal was to make JG avoiding mistakes and that's the reason why Shanahan was in freeze mode in the 4th qtr of SB 54. And now will we see how this new confidence will work out on sunday.

Here’s the thing. BP is developing while being the starter for the 9ers. That means he does exactly what Kyle tells him to do and avoid at all means to go off the script. It’s part of the process. So many pro QBs have already this, most of the game you have to manage it. It doesn’t matter if you are third down, you play it safe and punt instead of trying to be the hero. As Steve Young said “you can’t be Superman for 4 quarters. Most of the times you have to be Clark Kent”. If you watch the highlights of every 9ers game, you’ll see that Purdy did this through all the season but running. Why didn’t he run if he was able? Kyle’s leash naturally and the fact that season games are managed differently. As Cam said, he is not at the very top… yet, but he is not that far and Kyle knows it. Even if he doesn’t reach that “level” it doesn’t matter. Montana didn’t. You only need to be good enough to thrive along the way.

But...Lets not forget he was a couple dropped INT's away from not even beating GB, he simply got lucky in that game with dropped INTs, one that was a probably a Pick 6. KC and Mahomes isn't going to even let him have those opportunities to come back if they get down early.

The sports media needs talking points and can’t believe the last pick of the draft and someone not as physically talented can be in a Super Bowl. So they’ve created this narrative. Maybe football is played beyond just the QB position. Instead of “is Purdy elite” why aren’t the discussions about “wow this SF TEAM is sound across all positions”. So much emphasis is on the QB position and max money. 49ers built a Super Bowl team a different way and the media hates it

In a world filled with the swifties led by Kermit Mahomes enters Brocky BALLboa, his mission to stop Tiky Toky Mahomes from his last dance and make Pat Sr give up the bottle all in with one touch of his arm, find out if he can save the NFL and shine bright like a diamond and make vegas feel like it’s on acid, ultimately letting the people know, he’s arrived because it’ll take more then being called a game manager to kill his vibe!! No doubt this Sunday Brockys Diamond Super bowl ring will last forever!!

As much as Cam Newton is a couch quarterback now, he was an NFL player. Based on that, he can say whatever he wants about any NFL player. I don't agree with Cam Newton but I'll listen to his opinion.

Tom Brady is not a game changer but he considered the goat because of his success. If you watch how Brock Purdy played he distribute the ball like Tom Brady and unlike Brady who cant move or run Purdy actually have some legs. Purdy just need to win some Superbowls for his negative narrative to stop. This is exactly what happen to Tom Brady and Joe Montana at their early career.
