I watched this while bawling like a six-year old cheerleader. My wife thinks that I am depressed for some reason and walking in on me watching this didn't help a lick. People, if this man can face life everyday without complaining, how can we form our lips to bitch about ANYTHING that life throws at us? I would LOVE to have this man coach my kid because of what he brings to the table. What he brings to the table is not just football knowledge, he brings LIFE lessons! It's character, attitude, backbone, spiritual guidance and LOVE FOR YOUR FELLOW MAN. As a United States Marine, this is the man who in the face of assured death, could make you charge a machine gun nest. If you are blessed to have a man like this pass through your life, you should get down on your knees and thank GOD for that blessing. I have only met one man like this in my life so they don't come along often but now I can say that I know of two. Coach Rob Mendez, I don't know if you will ever see this but if you do, I want you to know that you have touched the SOUL of this man for just being who you are. I appreciate the fact that you have decided to share the gift that is you. I would have ran through brick walls for you. I pray that you will live a long and prosperous life and continue to share what is you to these kids. You are giving more than anyone can put a price on and because of that, these kids are receiving a gift that will grow within them for the rest of their lives. God bless you my brother. "Who says I can't? NOBODY!"

Even though this Saturday's SportsCenter couldn't come fast enough, I still expected the video to feel like 15 minutes. I got started and it felt like 15 seconds. Rob's story is so engaging that I could easily watch a feature-length documentary on him. If there isn't the option of a film, to tell his story, someone better lock it down. I understand the fire that burns inside to want to be a coach. I'm trying to get there. It's been tough but I am still trying . I've written a book about my life called BOYDEN STRONG A life of heart and courage on Amazon. I'm not giving up. This brings me to tears. I love this dude. I love football. This game and desire to coach is never going to leave me. I was born at 25 weeks. 2 pounds 2 ounces . Wasn't supposed to make it, wasn't supposed to be here but at 32 years old I finally realized I'm here for others, to coach, to inspire and above all to be a LIGHT TO OTHERS.
