@@zdawg2257 I'm a ND fan, but no, to me the refs weren't bad at all. They rightly called some blindside blocking penalties on SC and the coach went haywire, but they were the right calls. SC also got some iffy calls, one on a TD that was very close to being out of bounds, and another on a personal foul against Jaylen Sneed where the announcers themselves had no clue what he did. The SC TD probably should've stayed how it was called on the field, so I get that one. But all in all, the refs weren't the reason the Irish won today in my admittedly biased opinion, but I think it's justified

As an ND fan this was how I wanted them to play all season. This game was by far the best when it comes down to the wire. Usually ND will lose its way in the second half but this game they thoroughly played their hearts out despite the turnovers. Good job ND!

Both teams were missing key players, ND had a QB that hasn't played since week 2. This happens every year, before transfer portal, big programs have been dealing with guys not playing bowl games bc they've declared for the draft. Outside of the CFP, Bowl games have become even more trivial after the new transfer portal rules. It's literally to make more money, that's it.

That's why you saw Jordan Burch, a DE, playing offense trying to catch a pass from Rattler. Unfortunately, he didn't bring it down because it would have been 6. I mean, the guy is 276# and 6'6".

This was Marcus Freeman's Irish team! Under Brian Kelly, Notre Dame would not have competed like this. They would have gone down big in the First Quarter, like they did, and then basically skated by the entire rest of the game, keeping SC from scoring more points, but also not scoring any more themselves, and basically only losing by two touchdowns because SC took their foot off the gas in the 4th Quarter. But Freeman's team kept battling, and kept their noses to the grindstone, no matter what went wrong! This is a different Fighting Irish than we have seen for most of the past decade!

One thing is for certain Benjamin Morrison is interception machine they need to start playing more of these younger guys so they can find more diamonds in the rough, another player who is an absolute baller but it hasn't seen the field really except for special teams is Nolan Ziegler he truly is a good football player and I hope he gets some playing time next year even though all the upper classmen linebackers are coming back, Jordan bothellot showed out he can definitely rush the passer he needs to get a lot more playing time next season, it's surprising he always plays with his hair on fire how he's not gotten more playing time, ALSO A PLAYER IN THE RECRUITING CLASS THAT WE JUST GOT HE'S NOT GETTING A LOT OF TALK IS BENJAMIN MINICH FROM LAKOTA WEST HIGH SCHOOL IN OHIO HE'S AN ABSOLUTE BALLER AT THE SAFETY POSITION HE NEEDS TO SEE THE FIELD IMMEDIATELY GO IRISH ALSO I WANT TO GET A SHOUT OUT TO ALEXANDER ESRENBERGER, HE'LL BE A SENIOR NEXT YEAR I HOPE HE FINALLY GETS SOME PLAYING TIME AT DEFENSIVE END HE SHOULD BE IN THE TWO DEEP NEXT SEASON CUZ EVERY TIME THEY PUT HIM ON THE FIELD HE'S DONE NOTHING BUT PRESSURE THE QUARTERBACK AND HE'S ALSO HAD A COUPLE SACKS THIS SEASON EVEN THOUGH HE DIDN'T PLAY MUCH GO IRISH

It baffles me how a big time college football program like ND cannot recruit the most important position on the field. Who was the last big time QB recruit out of high school? Jimmy Clausen?? And Charlie Weis wrecked him by fielding horrible all around teams

We did all of that without an OC, without our NFL talent, with our 2 best players ditching us, and with very significant players out on IR. This hurt but our recruitment class is stacked and we’re miles ahead of where we were with Muschamp. Couldn’t be more proud of my Gamecocks and more excited for the future

It might also be his only one should Sam Hartman choose to transfer to ND. Because Freeman will go with his recruits after the 2023 season (Kenny Minchey, and possibly CJ Carr if he remains committed)
