@@carnage1284 if he's not afraid then why doesn't he just take the fight? Your logic is flawed. You gotta understand Jon is the same dude that Reyes and Santos went toe to toe with and he couldn't stop Anthony Smith... Anthony Smith is terrible if he keeps fighting for another 3 years he's about to be under 500 lmao. Tom Aspinall would literally kill those guys they would get their heads taken off. Jon knows Tom isn't an easy fight and he could easily lose he knows this otherwise he would have taken the fight already.

The only thing I disagree with is beating Tom does nothing for his legacy. That would keep him as the goat for another 5 years MINIMUM. Ok, the only real loss is a sub loss though and I'm sure he's worked on that a lot since that time. His opponents have only got better since that sub loss too. I'm under no delusional about Jon's goat status at light heavyweight but people want to see him in a real heavyweight contest. Not saying he's scared but since he's held on to that belt all this time, people think it's fair he should give Tom a shot if Jon gets past Stipe

@@augustoamaral6084 the one by injury is still a loss, jon broke his toe and continued fighting till he won…, mark hunt broke one hand and still fought with the other, even Thiago Santos continued with one leg and didn’t quit. Many fighters have.

Stipe would 100% fight Tom if Jon drops out again. He’s a warrior in all aspects of life and it’s his last fight. He’s not wanting this training camp or this payday or the chance at stamping his heavyweight GOAT claim. Win win for Stipe even in a loss. Jon wouldn’t lose anything with a loss to Tom either. But he’d never take that fight because he doesn’t take fights he doesn’t know he can win. He doesn’t see a pathway to win over Tom. He’s had a youth skill or size advantage against every opponent ever and doesn’t face that against Tom.

A win over Aspinall does nothing for Jon’s legacy because he already has the belt and right now Stipe is still the heavyweight goat and he would have beaten him. Who Aspinall becomes later is just speculation right now. His major attribute is speed and your speed is the first thing you lose over a career, which suggests his reign might not last as long as others.

He deserves all the praise and should totally still be in the sport. He was pure as the driven snow before USADA. Just look at his career before USADA compared to after. It is basically the same. Let him juice it up against Aspinall. USADA is gone, so no one will know, and the UFC can go on pretending he is the GOAT.
