I think this argument is stupid with Darnold. Darnold was an unproven commodity so to call JJ unproven is literally counter to your point. Nobody, and I mean nobody thought Darnold would throw for over 30 tds and 4K yards. They have a defense now, they have a top 3 tandem with Addison and Jefferson as well as a solid tight end and running back. They can do this with JJ too because they did it with Kirk

Sam had shown flashes in terrible QB environments in the league before here. The “system” didn’t work with Dobbs, it didn’t work with Jaren Hall(a QB they drafted) or Nick Mullen. Do what the packers do instead of throwing in a rookie who just had a second knee surgery last month because he wasn’t recovering as expected.

@ I’m not saying I disagree with the final premise because if he isn’t healthy then don’t play him. I’m saying that the unproven thing is overplayed. Would you call Justin Fields unproven despite showing a lot of flashes in his starts? Same with other qbs like Zach Wilson. I’m saying that you never know until a player can prove it without a shadow of a doubt.

Well, Cousins had that as well, and Sam did more in one season than Cousins did in 6. I’d rather go right now with the former 3rd pick at a prime age and who KOC trusts; and let your 21 year old rookie sit for a while.

@ That isn’t a bad option and I do agree. I was just against the verbiage of unproven. Darnold before this year was unproven in that sense and I’d say he could still be a one year wonder because you never know. But yes, sign Darnold to a three year deal to me at 45 a year max if you want to sign him, and then see what you have after that.
