This goes against all the tips ive seen on moka pot. Yet the results looks amazing.

True. I've tried this method with good and bad results. Definitely a more creamier coffee, but the use of low heat often makes it so that the coffee is not fully brewed, leaving some coffee grounds to infiltrate, ruining your coffee. So the best method is to preheat the water so this doesn't happen, unfortunately though, that reduces the crema effect. While this looks very good on video, I have to question everything about her techniques starting with the fact that she's using Starbucks brand coffee. Based on that alone, her coffee cannot be any good.

@@lewisnostredame5605(1) She did preheat the water...at 4:26 she boils the water before she drops the funnel and screws on the collector. (2) Low to med-low heat is typically recommended for mokas...with preheated water on low heat, the brew temp should be well within the ideal 200°F ± 5° range when it starts to brew. (3) There's no chance for grounds infiltration since she sandwiched a paper filter (1:08) between the gasket and metal filter...also helps to boost pressure (in conjunction with her mild tamping) to promote crema. (4) "...I have to question everything about her techniques...her coffee cannot be any good." Throwing shade on her coffee because of the beans used and her techniques was quite rude don't you think? I felt her techniques were solid and I personally like Starbucks coffee, esp their Sumatran...the countless millions who affirm them daily as THE global coffee icon can't all be stupid to drink bad coffee...it's simply not possible. Just saying... This was an excellent video in my book. ツ

I'm noticing a cult around trying to get espresso out of a mokka pot. That's awesome, not everyone has $1000 for a real espresso machine. They might not 'technically' be espresso, but I'm sure that something fantastic will result from these efforts.
@d0nj036 ай бұрын
Even if you don't get the crema right out of the gate, the higher pressure brew gets damn close to the concentration of espresso, and you can always use the Cuban 'espumita' method to create some crema separately.

in some of asean countries, they had some users already hard mod the moka pot with some things that made the mokapot can extract proper crema with proper pressure. some of the modifications already i saw before, need a wireless tire pump to brew the coffee too

It's fascinating how watching coffee tips at night can unexpectedly stir up hunger! The way the crema emerges from the moka pot column does indeed add an extra layer of allure compared to the espresso machine.

You live and learn. I always watch moka pot videos that aren’t too long. Now I’m exited to try damping on my moka. I already had implemented the paper filters👍🏻☕️

I like the idea to boil the water straight only use the bottom part first, it definitely will shorten the process, and also to put the paper filter upper the rubber thingie that will make the filtering process more evenly. Will try it next time

Nice, this is the way! just adjust your temp as low as possible no need to preheat water in my opinion.

This same method I've used, without filter paper is also will extract the crema... Just grind the bean the right size (I'm using baratza encore grind size fine 2.5 with 9grams) and press a bit on basket (me using 1 cup size moka pot) using finger. Put filtered hot water and put on the stove with low heat as well, then the result will be sure.

The tamping feels illegal but her results were amazing, I wonder how the moka pot was able to build this much pressure without exploding or releasing through the pressure valve

the originality here is the way you repeat the operation of creating a "cave-in " of sort and several times with your spoon. That's where the amount of cream comes from, I would assume. Impressive🌷

it taste better with crema, but I don't like the coffee beans recommended in this video. This method still works with other beans though. I like Lavazza espresso beans or Arabica(%). The beans in this video taste great as regular black coffee though. Can still make it as an espresso, pour the shot into a cup and then just add hot water and you have an amazing cup of regular coffee@@MrDeanDog91

@@basicvince Yeah, Lavazza Espresso Italiano Classico is one of the best for this method because it's a light roast and this method compensates by being a high-temperature and high-pressure process.

1) the instructions to the Bialetti moka pot explicitly say not to press down the coffee 2) it would be easier to just boil the water in a kettle and the pour it into the water chamber. Then you won’t need two pairs of gloves to handle it

@d0nj035 ай бұрын
If it's old coffee that has off-gassed a lot of its CO2, that typically kills your chances at getting crema. Other than that, maybe your grind was too coarse, or maybe didn't use the paper filter so the pressure didn't go as high.

I can make rich thick crema without this hocuspocus easily with my Brikka. the recipe is simple: grind the beans to very fine don't use more water than 1 dl. start with cold water do not overheat it don't allow the flames wider than the bottom of the pot. the result is a perfect crema that is sometimes thicker than 1 cm.
