you can 100% use the Kalita 185 filter papers for the stagg X, hell, I even use v60 papers, just crumple the v60 paper up and dump faucet water when you center it, boom filter for your stagg x. Really really love my stagg x and the paper compatibility is a lot more flexible than what people assume.
@DaddyGotCoffee2 жыл бұрын
You can, but it’s so narrow. Any time I do this my papers end up either crumpling or folding inward when I pre-wet. Not the end of the world I guess but I don’t love it

Great review, this really helped get me started with the Bloom. I'm having a little trouble understanding the ESPRO-suggested recipe (theirs, not yours). Shouldn't it be 50 grams initially, followed by a 205 gram pour so that it's 255 grams total? That would make it roughly 9 oz., which matches what they say on their website: "16.5 g of coffee, or 2.5 Tablespoons, for 1 serving (9 oz)". On the other hand, 255 to 16.5 isn't a 19:1 ratio. Seems like either the ratio is wrong or the serving size is wrong. I guess I should be asking ESPRO...

Had mine since just before the pandemic. It’s pretty good. But I definitely can’t approach it like my normal Kalita brew

For sure - they’re very different brewers!

Hey Daaaaa... Justin! Well I'm not a fan of the pure metal filtering, I have a java maestro (if that's the name) and I rarely use it compared to a v60 or a clever dripper or a melitta. Said that it's a brave choice for the company to add another kind of paper filter to all the ones already on sale... Mixed feelings about this one. Now you got me curious about the price of a pack of filter! Nice discovery tho! Keep the videos coming!
@DaddyGotCoffee2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! They are more expensive than wave filters but not by a huge amount. I agree though… I have SO MANY kinds of filters and I don’t love that. The paperless works but it’s not my favourite, that being said in a pinch it 100% works and gives a solid cup. I’ll keep them coming!
@mickbohannon11042 жыл бұрын
@@DaddyGotCoffee i feel you. BTW, totally out of the blue, can you consider making a tutorial for melitta/kalita/Flat bottom filters? For what I know there are just a couple of videos that seriously touch that topic.

Just got my bloom pour over. Trying to figure out the grind size. Using a 1Zpresso Q2 heptagonal grinder. How many clicks would be equivalent to what you did in this recipe? Thank you!

Does brewing without the filter paper change the taste?
@DaddyGotCoffee2 жыл бұрын
It does slightly, but in my opinion the clean up is a lot more of a change. As long as you have a good grinder the taste without a filter will still be pretty good!

I’ve got most other drippers, v60, chemex, kalitta 185/155, blue bottle dripper, stagg x. I am looking to get an April brewer though. So getting a Bloom just seems redundant at this point. Unless it’s a game changer I won’t buy it.

It'll be the most similar to the stagg. I actually haven't tried the april!

I weigh my beans. However I also typically use zero retention grinders so bean/ground translates 1:1 👍

I only have the V60. Are the others different enough to warrant more? I’m afraid it will be like CrossFit and shoes 😜
@DaddyGotCoffee2 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry to say it IS kinda like CrossFit and shoes 😅😇 If you’re looking for flexibility and options in one brewer the origami air is worth a look. Not quite as forgiving as the bloom but you can use both flat bottom and conical filters it (I think the only brewer that does that??), also it’s good grade resin plastic so it won’t break.
