front and rear rolled and pulled. Lots of trimming on plastic bits too. For carbon fibers it is extremely easy to achieve clearance just by trimming the lip with a dremel and sanding it smooth. Metal is much harder to work with. Dm me on IG if you need help figuring this out

Why such beefy tires, won't that hamper the handling characteristic of the car? Also awesome channel, been going through each video and watching the progression of your WRX. Any reason why you didn't go with the STI, especially things that are hard to replicate(hydraulic steering, diffs, etc) if you are willing to do all this work to make it handle and drive better?

255 is not beefy at all, most guys run 265's on these cars which I plan to get later. It really comes down to the tire compound, not the width. My rims are 10.5 wide, so I need wider tires. I got a WRX over an STI mainly because of its updated engine. I drove both back to back and did not care for the STI much. The steering is actually better in the WRX, but the ratio in the STI is a bit tighter which is nice. Of course, you can't ignore the price difference. I don't care for the diffs in the STI as the WRX has a perfectly balanced setup. All comes down to personal preference really, both cars are great.

Oh sorry, meant wheels not tires. 10.5 wheels seems quite wide? Yeah I'm a WRX owner ready to do some mods but have also contemplated just trading for an STI. Your videos are swaying me to just mod the WRX though! haha. The gas mileage is going to save some decent cash and probably won't even be able to take full advantage if I'm only tracking every now and then.

@@travismlu oh, I got the rims this wide mainly for how deep the faces look with this width. Saw them in person, had to have them. Totally impractical setup though for how much work it took to get them to fit without rubbing. But you just can't get that same look with 9.5. Makes the car look meaner and wider than it normally is. You trading for an sti would not be a smart choice when you can easily mod your wrx to be just faster and stiffer, and still have good mpg. Trading an sti for a wrx would actually make more sense, if anything. If you get the right shifting mods, the transmission feels amazing in the wrx. And not to mention the mpg... They'll update the engine at some point, then you can trade. If you want help with choosing mods, shoot me an email and I'll give you suggestions. When I got my wrx I felt the same way as you. Modding it heavily is key!

The next step for me is to install the boomba shift setup that you have, the stock shifter is ok but feels like a toy compared to the STI's.

those boomba bits are key! That's why they were my very first mods. I was amazed at the difference when I installed the heavy plate. Then I decided to go for the short shifter which I was on the fence about due to the shortness of it and the offset location of the stick (it's actually the stock stick that has a kink in it to be centered!), then went through about 15 shift knobs to get the right one (get a really heavy one). When you do these mods remember to get a shift stopper bracket (got mine on amazon for 12 bucks), a solid bushing (10 bucks or less), a group N transmission mount (optional but stops extra stick movement when in gear), and the positive shift feel bushings (can't tell if they made any difference, but why not...). It'll feel super solid afterwards like it's physically connected to the transmission instead of by cable. The boomba shifter itself is just amazing. I can write a whole page on how good it is, especially eliminating the noise of that reverse collar. And none of that flimsy stock feel. When I hop into my buddy's stock wrx and try to shift it, it is shockingly different and feels effortless, almost like it's not attached to anything at all. Mine came with an sti short shifter option (didn't ask for it...) which is even worse than stock as it feels gravely and notchy. I literally hated my drive home thinking I might have made a mistake getting this car as the shifts felt terrible. Trust me, get those mods! And avoid shift plates by other companies as they are light and notchy.

This spec is identical to mine in regards to how your tire will sit, so you'll need to do a bunch of work with the fenders. Will most likely still rub a lot unless you run stiffer springs (with coilovers) and sway bars. I'd recommend 245/40 tires for this setup.

​@@Donswans fortune coilovers are good as long as you get swift springs and go with 10k. If you want a comfortable ride, however, then 8k all around is as stiff as you want to go, but you'll have a lot of rubbing. There really is no way to make your setup rub-free unless you a) limit the travel b) run super stretched tires like 225, etc. Not sure why you went with this offset without doing more research first.

atq42 I have a short shifter made by Boomba, plus a heavy shift knob, and also their shift plate. Made a huge difference as I was really disappointed in the stock gearbox. Now it's really good. I'll do a video on that at some point once I stop changing my shift knobs.

@@gifinoc3356 Thanks man, i just didn't know anyone measured from fender to ground, not sure what the reason would be for it. The most accurate way to set up your suspension is just to measure the coilover height adjustment zone, that's without getting too deep into corner balancing, etc. I set mine to where the front has just a bit of a gap from tire to fender and the rear has a slightly larger gap so it's front-biased (looks best imo).

@@WheelsAndBusinessVlogs well, technically I can tuck this setup if I were on bags, but that's because I did pull the fenders quite a bit and flattened them. Ideally you'd want a +30 offset with 10.5 rims, but the options are very slim for those. I think the best setup for this car is like 18x10 +38 with 265 tires: beefy and clean, no extra work needed other than a mild roll. But I do like the poke, so for me I have to have the wheels sticking out.

Alan Ocampo just realized I could run something wider once I rolled and pulled the fenders. I always wanted to run 18x10.5, but didn't see a single setup like that which I liked. All of them ran crazy camber, stretch, etc. Also I wanted something gunmetal or bronze.

Edgar Aranda I don't like the offset being so low, but the width is perfect. If you only want lower offset, that can be done with spacers on your current wheels. Also, you will need to roll and pull your fenders if you go this route.

I am not 100% sure that offset alone is what makes the face so concave, but that would make sense if it did. I like the deep look too. I saw these wheels at a tire shop before I got them. They were mounting a different set of wheels on my car while I was drooling over these esr's, ironically... They didn't have that size in stock, otherwise I'd buy them right on the spot. If you want this look, just go for it. If it rubs, get a fender roller for 30 bucks and roll it a bit. Watch my other video for tips on that.

GMZ JR it did slightly but I shaved off the areas where the fender connect to bumper, front and rear, and that fixed all the issues. No rubbing of any sort now.

@@geremiahnielsen4975 Short answer is no... Go to www.willtheyfit.com and you'll see that 10.5 stretches the tire more, but the tread is in the same spot as on 9.5. You'll have to do a lot of work to make them fit. Some guy hit me up on IG saying he got 9.5 +22 and his is rubbing a lot, wondering how I was able to make 10.5 work. The answer: a ton of fender rolling and pulling, shaving stuff, stiffer springs, removing/trimming fender liners, etc. These cars are just not build for this fitment, but I made it work for myself. The best offset for this car is +30 to +40, doesn't really matter what width. You can easily fit 10.5 +30 with just some roll. If you need more info, check my other videos.

Surprisingly, zero rubbing at full lock, even when making a u-turn a bit quicker. I did trim a lot of areas though. The only rubbing I get is if I am making a sharp turn and the wheel happens to hit a bump, then it'll rub on the fender for a brief second. Other than that no issues at all.

They'll fit for sure, don't worry, that width is common, no issues as long as you stick with +30 to +45 offsets. You can always add spacers later to get a more aggressive look and roll the fenders a bit, nothing crazy like I did. And thanks for the comments man, really appreciate it! Vinnyc3nzo Thanks for the kind words! If you need help with the fender work, don't hesitate to ask, here or via email. It's a lot of work to fit these wheels and still run 255 or 265 tire, so I would advise to just go with something more standard like 18x9.5, etc with +35 and higher offsets. (unless you're like me and want something out of the ordinary that no one else is running, then disregard the previous advice altogether and read on). To install and run these wheels you can do that even on stock fenders with some camber. BUT... To avoid rubbing, either most of it or all of it, the fenders need to be pulled quite a bit (natural byproduct of rolling them), so the more you roll, the more they get pulled. Then they need to be hammered as flat as possible by using rubber/plastic hammers as some areas are tougher and just won't roll flat. Then onto shaving several bumper bits which is the easiest part with a sharp blade. Think twice before you mess with the fenders as it's not reversible. And if you mess up and pull too much, you end up with lumpy surfaces.

Thanks. Camber does add to the wear, but the worst is the toe being off. That will wear out the tire fast. My camber is not that bad so the wear is pretty good so far, especially on awd

@@sti.adrian989 brake fitment wise they'd be identical. The only difference is the width of the main rim where the tire mounts. For rings just get any aluminum ones online, doesn't matter.

Look at what they offer. It's either a +22 or a +35 or 38. You can't have this look without the poke...

Where did you get the hub rings and what size are they?

Ebay. They are anodized alum. The size will depend on your rim hub bore. The factory wrx spec is 56.1, so just type this number on ebay and the hub size of your wheel to find your rings. Plastic is best for preventing getting stuck, but alum is more durable if you constantly mess with the wheels and can also be anodized.
