Pete B ...there’s always a small percentage of crazy people in every country, but here in the states, the US gov and mainstream media, which is just an extension of the gov, constantly beat the war drums against the countries it wants to control or destroy, and pumps false propaganda into the minds of US citizens to hate people from these countries. I wish more US citizens would realize what the US gov is doing, and take back control of the US and end these never-ending wars.

In Saudi Arabia and Gulf states we also use the expression “min gher shar” "من غير شر" to say like I want something to happen but without anything can cause a harm in any way , like" If you done the surgery ( min gher shar ) I’ll see you" " اذا سويت العملية من غير شر ، باشوفك" and sometimes we add the expression “InShaAllah” after “min gher shar” like “ If you done the surgery ( min gher shar -InShaAllah- ) I’ll see you” “if you done the surgery hoping that the surgery will not cause any harm to you , I’ll see you” “ اذا سويت العملية من غير شر ان شاء الله ، باشوفك"

When you explain this expressions is almost as if you were explaining Spanish expressions. In Spanish we get the expression " ojala' " from " inshaAllah", although in Spanish it means "I wish/desire [it] happens ". However, depending where and when you where born, like myself, we say a lot "Si Dios lo permite" = "If so Gods wills". Definite influence of the Arabic in Spanish.

Interesting that the opposite sentence ("inshallah" - I've no idea if it's correctly written/transliterated) is basically the same in Portuguese and Spanish ("Oxalá" and "Ojalá"), although in Portuguese we say "Deus queira" (~ "let's hope God wants it") just as frequently or maybe more (depending on the region)

Havent you ever heard the 2 first expressions before? Weird for someone living in the Maghreb or anywhere of the arab world for that matter, we may not use many phrases and expressions used in the middle east but we certainly heard them on TV or read them. I mean one has to not speak Arabic at all or never read it before to never have heard of some very basic and frequently used words like the first 2 expressions.

hypno smilez I think MSA alongside Lebanese would be good because most people understand Lebanese because of TV.
