I saved this video for two months before I finally installed my GP yesterday. I didn't remember I saved this video in a folder and ended up using another installation video. BIG MISTAKE!. I also wasted an hour trying to attach the new unit due to the flange being at the bottom of the threads. It kept attaching unevenly and I finally figured out the problem on my own. Time would have been wasted if I remembered I had this video. BTW, a great tip is to use a car jack to make it much easier to hold in place during the install

Thanks for the advice about moving that black rubber part up higher. Been fighting with that for a half hour. After moving that part up, I had it installed in 5 minutes. I might also add...When turning that metal ring, make sure it snaps into place, you will hear it. Thanks again buddy!

You posted this video 6 years ago and it 2021 and your video is better then any of the ones I have watched. Mounting the disposal is a major pain. When you watch clips of these handy men installing the disposal they say now you just screw it on, then they cut the video and it magicly is on. No one will show themselves actually mounting it. Thank you very much. i just spent 90 mins driving myself crazy trying to re-mount my cleaned out unit. I could not get the locking tabs anywhere near the locking ring... i thought i had it as high as it would go. your video showed me that i needed to go higher with a little force. easily locked on in 2 mins. thanks again.

Thanks for this video. I could not get the flange with the tabs up high enough. Your video showed me that I had to use "considerable force". Once I did that it went right in. One suggestion: I used a scissors type car jack to raise the disposal up and hold it in place while I got the flanges engaged. That worked like a champ, and made the job much easier.

Nice video. I would add that the edges of the sink hole are sharp so take care when removing the old putty.

I just replaced an old version with a new version of the Badger 5. For some reason they redesigned the mounting plate. Specifically the plate that goes on the disposal. I am not sure if it had casting issues or just a bad design but I could not get it to mount under the sink when I set it on the ground and took the rubber piece with flaps to keep stuff from going down the drain off. it mated up but with some effort to align it just right. when I put the rubber piece back in no way could I get it mounted . I pulled the plate off the old unit and used that it mounted just fine

How do you get the locking ring on to the disposal? Mine came with it off and I’m dying out here tryna get it back on

Does the silver lower mounting ring around the top of the disposal thread on somehow, or does it stay in place only by the rubber seal mounted above it? If you remove the rubber seal, does the silver mounting ring simply come off?

When pointing out the dishwasher knockout plug, you need to point to the INSIDE of the inlet tube instead of continuously pointing to the outside of the tube.

My bottom ring fell off the disposal altogether and doesnt want to stay on. Anyone else have this problem? I'm wondering if a part fell off when I wasn't looking.

a wanna be tough guy mindlessly jugged my disposal out of place. Thinking brute force is a fix to everything, the jerk couldn't get it back mounted. I kicked him out of my house. Later what i thought to be a penny that flew into the disposal causing it to lock and not spin, was ironically a small Allen Wrench. Now i have to figure out how to remount. Going to try this. Thanks buddy

Rather than using the tiny hex wrenches just use a couple of screwdrivers which have much larger handles and allows you to use a lot more force.

This model come with a tool to turn the clamp. Same tool for turning gear at bottom.

Only frustrating when the flange came shipped seated so low and you needs some considerable force to move it up, which was unexpected since it shipped that way. But other than that fairly smooth install

I have an idea I like share that's not mentioned anywhere - Use the ordinary car jack to lift and help you align and rotate that disposer in a confined space. I've done it 3 x already. Use liquid soap to lubricate that rubber part. I know I envy those demonstrating on KZbin however I tell myself that these guy have done several dozen times hence it's a breeze.

I used my car jack. Easy as pie, and no Allen wrenches or large forces required. Just a tiny amount of brains.i was able to both remove it and replace it by hand. And I've had mine for 22 years, no problems at all until a small teaspoon finally got itself jammed inside.

I used a bucket and a book! Used what I had at that moment! The disposal was heavy when trying to get in locked in when seated on the floor!

1:50, no that's not how it works. You should keep it in the last lock up spot so you can just hold on to the unit and rotate! and once it locked on it will release as it will get pulled up and will release from the lock. It's actually by design!

Did you remove the Fork? or if its stuck, use the Disposal Wrench for he underside of the Disposal to turn and dislodge?
