Replacing an InSinkErator Badger Garbage Disposal - Easy DIY for Beginners

In this video I show you how to disconnect an existing InSinkErator Badger Series garbage disposal and install a new unit. By utilizing another InSinkErator Badger series unit, we are able to install the new garbage disposal right onto the existing flange, which makes this an even simpler job for the beginner. The unit featured in this install is the Badger 15SS 3/4 Horsepower. Although this unit is exclusive to Lowes, I have links to similar units below.
This video was inspired by my coming home on a Sunday evening to my 8 year old garbage disposal leaking from the electrical box at the base of the unit. This is indicative of a crack from inside the unit that requires a replacement. Fortunately, this is an easy job even for beginners and it can take as little as 20 minutes from start to finish.

Thanks... saved me a plumber too. Maybe 1 hour as I had to find the right breaker and tools. haha. Took a few tries to line it up and i had elbows for the drain but they were adjustable to line up to new unit. Replaced a 1988 unit so didn't have to use the new top flange that saved time (re-use). Wow the new unit is quiet :)

On the power cord, ribbed is neutral. Smooth is hot. Green is ground. On the unit, white is neutral and black is hot.

This must be the older model b/c the new version of this one is wired completely different. You have to you use a proprietary power cord.

The drain hose from the dishwasher should loop up then go down and attach to disposal to prevent drainage from the sink into the dishwasher.
