Thanks for this video Ninja! I like the short and emergency notice update for tourists. I absolutely love Ueno area. I duno why but it is always my first choice of place to stay 😅. Call me lazy because it has a direct speedy train (Kintetsu) from Narita. I'll be on my way to visit Tokyo and Osaka end Sep and early Oct but this time arriving in Haneda because there are more flights to Haneda than to Narita and it has my preferred timing 🥲. Now I gotta decide the "best" way to head to Ueno.

Even the current level of foreign tourism is crazy. It simply makes life harder for domestic business travel and life harder for workers in the service industry. My dream country would have invested more in STEM and exports instead of relying on foreigners. I think this year tourism is about 8% of the GDP (hmmm, this number is not exact though) ... ww! ... at least it is 2024 ... during Bakumatsu Era foreigners were hacked to death,... so at least the country is becoming more polite ...

60% of the worry about my trip has been about SUICA cards. That can soon be put to rest. Now I can worry about the dropping value of the yen. At one point, a NZD$ 1 was 90 yen, but it is dropping. If it continues, I will have to put my journey off by another 12 months while I raise the cash.

The inn situation is totally suspicious. The inn would know they should have copied their passports as it's a legal requirement that Nagano prefecture would have drilled into them. Also on check in, all guests are required to write their name and address it safety. Nagano has foreign tourists and it's unheard for an inn of that age to have never had foreign guests. Totally suspicious. I hope inn is fined for not following the law.
@NinjaMonkeyguy2 ай бұрын
actually its very common for many inns to simply not be listed in western booking sites, or for them to only have over the phone bookings.. I've been to a few where my friends have had to book on my behalf, so i understand how this could have happened.. but I guess you do have a point about fault here..?

A physical Suica card isn't all that necessary because of the mobile phone Suica card. The only thing that made it different was the need to tell the cashier you want to use your IC card before using it, otherwise the card reader tries to use your credit cards on your phone. Not a big fan of how Asian fans cancel celebs for simply being humans and having relationships that they then have to hide, so to me it's just a social behavior that puts me off.

hmmm,... in regards to the effects of overtourism, ethnicity is really irrelevant don't you think? By the way, was this your first experience of earthquake? (from childhood I think I am used to it, even the nasty ones) If you are in Tokyo now then I think if Nankai Megathrust moves again it should be ok for you. However,... if something happens like 1923, I think you will be in real trouble ... Anyway, regarding Tojo Momoka,... this does not seem bizarre at all, the punishment seems correct. The Japan pop idols are completely staged and controlled. If she forgot or didn't realize that she works for a business, I hope now she does.
