You might want to revise your temp expectation lower. We've been having lots of overnight temps in the 30s the last 6 weeks here in north Florida. Low of 35, high of 57 at my house today. Add a 20' bow line to your boat to pull across sand bars & shoals, tie up your boat at night. First aid & gear/kayak repair kit? Cockpit cover to keep rain and critters out at night? Toilet paper & hand sanitizer? Water bottles/bladders? (The Suwannee is so full of floating vegetation and industrial chemical contaminants I don't even try to filter the water altho I know some people do. Also below the Withlacoochee confluence there is frequently contamination from the wastewater treatment plants in Valdosta. There will be potable water at the open River Camps but it's usually shut off if the Camp is closed.) Use ground sheet in the River Camp platforms coz wooden floors have splinters that can puncture your sleeping pad. Also good to put up as a "wall" to keep out wind-blown rain. Headlamp? Biosoap & scrubbie to wash dishes/pots? Pocket knife? Cell phone coverage is spotty but can usually get a call out if you climb up to the top of the bluffs. Power bank to keep camera and phone running? A clothes line will come in handy.

I will kayak vicariously through you and Jason Wish! I don't know much about kayaks... but that one looks pretty awesome! Its ok to pack your fears when you're kayaking... unless you have to portage!!

Even tho Dowling Park and Holton Creek River Camps are closed, they both have nice high sand banks suitable for camping.

Hey Crow, Bearded Lady here, Happy Holidays to you and the fam! Cool you are getting out in the new kayak and can’t wait to hear about the trip. Thanks for the great gear review as I am learning about this sport. You are getting down here close to my neck of the woods of SE Alabama/north FL and the waterways that are close to the “dumping” into the Gulf which makes for some really sediment rich areas, like those around Apalachicola for example, that are perfect for producing some very fine oysters, world renown for those that don’t know 😀 Ive mostly used a motorized john boat on these rivers hence why I really want to learn more about kayaking and ditch the motor, along with all the pollutants that go with it! 😀 SO many migrating birds this time of year along the waterways and the weather is gorgeous! Would you happen to know something about the different paddles? They all look the same to me, but they seem to have subtle differences such as length. The little bit of kayaking I’ve done has only been with pretty much the same paddle as you had in the video, but I know nothing at all 😂 I did happen to wonder if anyone does trail magic on the rivers…never ran into anyone before and I think it would be fun to do! Love these southern rivers, they are a blessing in the summer when it’s hot as a firecracker here in Alabama, and I don’t hike in the summer months here for that reason. Would be great to have a kayak as I live about a mile from the Choctawhatchee. Anyway, thanks for the vid and I hope you are living your best life out there! ✌️😮
