Thanks for sharing the information about the items that you have available in your "toolbox" for working with orchids. And, that is a beautiful cattleya.

Hi Olivier! I love your videos, they are so interesting and informative. Your idea to keep your orchid supplies together in one place is inspiring too. As I am retired and live in a small apartment, I must live within the framework of my limitations. So I have one dedicated shelf in my very large bathroom for supplies and do all of my orchid tending on a big tray in the kitchen. Your Velcro technique is great and I thank you very much for your many tips and explanations.🦋🦋🦋

Olivier, using velcro on mounts is my favorite tip you’ve shared! I had a C Amethystoglossa that wasn’t doing well. I used Velcro to attach her to a piece of driftwood, with no medium, mist it down twice a day and not even two weeks later, I have the beginning of new roots and a new growth. I’m so happy! Thank you 😁

Hi Olivier, great video. Where do you buy the wood mounts?

The big cypress pieces were made by a couple who retired a year ago. The cork comes from an orchid supply store, Green Barn in Delray Beach and a few from Mac's orchids in Ft Lauderdale

hello, great vid as always!! I had a problem with Phalaenopsis mites, the orange-ish colored ones not the red ones. They were hard to deal with because horticultural oil rotted some of the plants (about 10% of them due to the crown having excess oil in it). Can I use regular isopropyl alcohol for mites if I have another outbreak? What percentage do you use and does it ever harm leaves? Do you apply the alcohol once a week for many weeks in a row?

Absolutely! I do. I forgot to mention: 70% (NOT 91%)... good point! Thank you! For mites, you need to treat every 4 days really for a few weeks. I alternate 70% alcohol with other products too: Avid, Bayer 3-1 miticide. I have never seen harm to leaves (as long as you do not put the plant under direct sunlight while covered with alcohol) but do not spray the buds and especially not the flowers. Also, I never let any liquid in the crown. I turn it upside down to drain all the product.

Thank you so much.. very helpful video! I used it as a checklist to see if I'm on the right track and now I feel very encouraged..😊 I also have the same attitude to the Bloom Booster, I'm not sure if it works but it's there, so why not..hahaha!! Anyway, that's a really gorgeous cattleya. Thanks for sharing it with us, and again, thanks for the video.
