After owning and flying an Ultralight and a Cessna 150 and a Starduster Too biplane totaling several hundred hours as PIC the most FUN was when I flew Glow engine powered RC model airplanes.

Usually I don't watch vids with several rc airplane crashes. I'm afraid it will make me an even worse as a pilot 🤠 However I must admit I don't feel so bad now for lawn darting my turbo timber at full speed into the church parking lot two days ago. Lol. It's not just me.

Never got the fascination with watching models fly in endless circuits round an airstrip. Get with the times; get some fpv on the go, low flying, dogfighting, let the crowd watch the feed on goggles or TV screens. This flying merry go round is mind-numbingly boring.

Totally agree. Fixed wing FPV would be a great addition to the RC show. I've tried this season but it's very difficult to get the organisers to appreciate how good it could be. Drones and fixed wing FPV is already quite established at most of these shows. They operate in a separate area on analog FPV. When we use digital FPV (e.g. DJI) it would block their signal. I did fly my FPV glider at one show recently but it took lots of coordination. I think the only way it would work is if there was a period of an hour of more when they don't fly so we could on the main flightline. I really do want to demonstrate FPV jet formation flying. We'll get there.
