I have been so privileged to have received multiple prestigious scholarships and fellowships, and I wanted to share what I believe were the essentials of my success. In later videos, I'll delve deeper into particular scholarships and fellowships I have won, such as Goldwater, NSF GRFP, and the Ford Predoctoral Fellowship.

Hi. Harvard Ph.D. students will automatically get scholarship from Harvard, right? Is the scholarship given enough or do they need to find other scholarships?

In the life sciences you are fully funded until you graduate. That means you get paid and also don't pay tuition. Some people get additional scholarships from Harvard.

Great Video and thanks for sharing. I also want to share and also ask a few questions if u dont mind. I saw that Harvard provides funding for 5 years for phd students in many forms, that is nice but ,do u know what are they expecting in return? Well I was wondering doing a phd on physics and was wondering if I get some ideas during my phd and later after my phd got some more ideas and thought to do a startup, does Harvard expect a share in the startup ( this is deifferent because I am not developing products using the uni's lab but just write my ideas on paper)? Just wondering, please feep free to answer if you know something about it. Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi Ha'ani! Although I haven't shared my essays for Ford themselves, they were near identical (but shorter) to my NSF essays that can be found here: www.lillianhorin.com/nsf/ The major difference is there was a third essay when I applied, and I got *very* personal in that essay. For that reason I don't feel comfortable sharing it. But I do think getting personal and real in that essay made me stand out as a candidate. So I'd say my advice is to be open about your experience.

Hi, melea, I have recently completed my masters and also wana apply to harward for PHD. I am confused about something for which i want a suggestion from you how much the research papers matter for taking admission in harward. I have two research publications in international but non impact factor journals and a review with impact factor 5.. in academics i am an above average student with B plus grade...either i should be hopeful after my GRE AND TOEFL scores to get admisssion in harward or I need to publish more research papers in my field to strengthen my application......????
