That's actually the most useful installation video about Deco M4. Simply because you do step-by-step what the typical user will have to do. It's useful to know that e.g. something takes 2 minutes, so you don't have to worry something went wrong while you wait. Or that you need to select "M4R" from the list when "M4" is not present. Nobody else cares about to show these details. Well done! I will be installing my own Deco M4 next week. I hope everything will go as smoothly!

Excellent video. Step by step and exactly how the average user would approach the installation. Thank you very much. What do you think about disabling the wifi in your own ISP router? is it redundant to have the router's wifi since you're exclusively using the wifi from the DECO M4?

They have an option in the app to switch from access point to router so that the deco acts like a router...thats what i did to bypass the double nat i kept getting on my xbox
@RogerDiotte3 жыл бұрын
@@essentialzmusic Ok so when you did that how did the Cable Supplied Modem react? I gather you have to first go into the Cable Providers modem/router and disable it acting as a router.....right? There's users out here that have Starlink internet so I believe for them to use these they'll just disconnect the STarlink Router altogether (The US people can't disconnect their Modem/Router because over there they have an Ethernet Dongle that attaches to their Modem/Router but can then apparently disable their equipment from acting as the Router by way of software switch). The people with the Round Starlink Dish have the modem with the ethernet port so we can either just use these Deco's by plugging them into the modem and selecting the Deco's to run in AP mode or just these as the Router/Modem.

Brilliant helpful video, thanks but I have the same question as a few others on here which doesn’t appear to have been answered? @staceyjohnson46363 жыл бұрын
I believe it just clones so we still need the original WiFi modem for it to continue to work
@macces823 жыл бұрын
As far as I am aware, and also from other videos on the M4 that I have watched you have two options. One is operating the M4 in "router mode" in which one of the M4s act as a router that also takes care of the Wifi. The second option is "access point mode" in which it will be connected to your exisiting router and only take care of providing the Wifi. In the latter mode you can then switch off the wifi on your existing router. No guarantee that this info is 100% correct but this is what I understood.
@quiksilver783 жыл бұрын
@@macces82 ah perfect! that's what I thought, too. It seems that for ease of use most everyone will use these as Access Points (AP) rather than router mode; in which case, it seems like turning off the wifi will eliminate the redundancy of SSIDs
@RogerDiotte3 жыл бұрын
@@quiksilver78 So yes good question that isn't clearly answered. I am aware that if you disable the "ROUTER" feature in the Internet Providers supplied Modem/Router combo unit (you'll have to browse into the ISP's Modem interface) you'll then be able to plug the first DECO into the LAN port or the one port that some ISP's have and then the 1st DECO will be setup in Router mode. IF now that you don't disable the Router in the ISP's supplied equipment (router/modem) then your first DECO you setup in Access Point Mode. If you DON'T disable the Routing feature in the ISP's modem then you setup the Deco as a Router well now you'll introduce issues in your network (Double NAT) where you could find that your devices will have IP conflicts etc due to both routers having DHCP enabled (DHCP in a nutshell is the feature that allows the device to hand out local IP's (addresses to your devices)).

I have few queries, I have an internet connection with a speed of 100Mbps. My ISP modem/router is placed in my Hall located in ground floor, I do not have any issues getting internet via WiFi in the hall. But, when i go to bedrooms which are located at a distance of approximately 20ft, My internet keeps connecting & disconnecting over WiFi. Below are my queries, 1. Can i use 2 M4 devices one connected and kept near the ISP router/modem and another in bedroom ? Will my connectivity improve ? Can i access internet without any disruptions ? Will there be any restrictions on where our ISP modem/router is placed in order to get the improved connectivity ? 2. Ours is 3 Storey building - Ground floor is where we live, 1st floor is let out for rent, 2nd floor i have a separate study room - The distance/height between ground floor house and 2nd floor study room is around 25ft, remember all these are individual houses, i have to take stairs from outside the house to reach 2nd floor study room. If i keep another M4 device in the 2nd floor study room, will i be able to get internet in my 2nd floor as well? Please advise.
