Informative, right up to the point where the seed was applied. Then it ended all too quickly before the most important part. The rake suddenly appeared, but no comment about raking the seed into the soil, how deep the seeds should be before applying the water, and whether or not the surface should be rolled after the seed has been applied before watering. So this is really half a video about how to plant Bermuda seed.

What "booster" type fertilizer can I use on Bermuda grass. I planted sods not seed. I'm having problem with shade and busy getting rid of trees. Is nitrogen OK. What combo. 14.14.14 or 3.2.1....?

7-1-2 is typical for bermuda, nitrogen in the spring and thru the summer, potassium in the fall to help with root depth and health over the dormant months. i know this is an old post but maybe you ahvent seen this information yet but im sure you already found the answer. hope it helps. Also, carbon, amino acids and iron can be helpful in some cases, research would be needed to see if your lawn requires any of these.

I read the spreading and after planting care doc you attached, so is it saying to not now the grass the first season of planting/establishing until it's browned from the colder fall season? And do the clippings need to be bagged at least the first season?

It is recommended to wait to mow the new grass until it reaches 3-4 inches which is typically 4-6 weeks after planting the seed. Removing the grass clippings from the lawn after mowing can help prevent the clippings from smothering the new grass.

Just use a Pro Plugger and transplant plugs from your own yard to other areas of your yard.

That’s make sense, new seed is to complicated who have time for all that

I'm sorry to say this is all pretty much straight-forward common sense and not very helpful for real-life Oklahoma terrain. Most homeowners don't have perfectly flat lawns like your demonstration, but must contend with sloping hills, shade trees, water run-off from gutters from houses and buildings and perhaps worst of all, secondary fine sediment from Oklahoma spring rain storms washing seed and nutrients into clumps far from the areas originally prepped for seeding. I've lost hundreds of dollars in quality seed just after one heavy Oklahoma storm, despite having prepped, power-raked and rolled soil as required. It would be VERY helpful to address how to work around these real-world problems.

Really? You just drop the seed on top of the soil and that’s it? Noting else?

the video sucked, there is no info on water procedures or how much. What is the best time to plant the seed? really dumb how deep the seeds should be etc!
@slims87533 жыл бұрын
So you do a soil test and the results come back that the soil is nitrogen deficient. *_Apply at the recommended rate_* just doesn't do it. How about some info on types of nitrogen (liquid? granular?), how to apply, etc. How about watering? Things like frequency and amount of water are kind of important. After laying the seed down, then what? Rake it until seed is covered? Cover with how much top soil? You take it for granted that watchers know more than we really do, thus we watch videos like this.
