I just recently found your videos and subscribed. You bring such a smile to my face with your enthusiasm and also wanting to preserve history through pictures. I did estate sales for 25 years till I had to retire due to a spinal injury. Many of the sales I conducted were bank ordered and I was instructed to throw away all photos and and personal letters because there was no surviving family or the family did not want them. I would bag them up in trash bags and it would break my heart. I asked the the bank executive I was working for if I could have them and she said absolutely. Well, here I am many years later with all these photos and other paper memorabilia that I still love to look at and have basically put together peoples lives from the early 1800’s to early 1900’s. I was always so sad when families came in before a sale to get expensive antiques and then proceeded to throw away pictures. Thanks to young people like you, some families precious history is being preserved. ❤️

Jean - thank you for your comment & for your desire to save pictures & memories! It’s always nice to know that there are others out there that feel the same way that I do & that many stories have been saved from the trash. I think that those that collect photographs & ephemera are a special kind of historian because we form personal connections with the items & see a different type of value in collecting them. Families may have forgotten those in the photos, but their moment in time still remains with us that collect & cherish those pieces of paper.
@evarene075 жыл бұрын
I love to collect old papers, pieces of jewelry, books, ephemera even little things found on the street while walking my puppy; and and recreate junk journals of various designs; giving these treasures meaning and new life. Some people just don’t value the days gone by nor the people who lived them and it’s very sad. We all will be a part of history at some point and I’d like to think not just thrown away in some plastic garbage bag.

I am so so glad you got the papers, photos and albums. They are too important to just be lost--they all deserve to live on with someone who respects them.

I'm always on the lookout for KZbin gold and this time I stumbled into a real treasure. "Paper and Moose"; and if I may borrow her line, as I believe it aptly applies for me here: '...I'm not sure who this woman is, but, I like her style." Your a natural videographer with a wonderful intro, a very pleasant speaking voice and a smooth ending to your videos...So glad I ended up here and subscribed. The memories, if not handed down through the new generations, make us forget about our history, and sad as you said, that no one has more interest in the things of that family, however better that they are sold than thrown in the garbage, so at least they remain alive . Thanks for your nice video that I find very interesting, sometimes the channels like yours would deserve to be broadcast on historical television channels. Ciao from venezia.😉

The modeling clay reminds me of my school days. Taco Stacks would be proud of you grabbing that blow mold. The island themed glasses remind me of people being enthused with Fiji at one time...50’s &60’s. If someone wanted to run away, they would say, “I’m going to Fiji”. 🤷♀️ That seemed to be an example of doing something crazy. Your Easter plate could be hung with a plate rack or holder without damaging it. For a table top, an easel would be good. You can purchase one at the Dollar Tree for $1.00. I’m enjoying your videos so much. I love when you find old greeting cards and photos. Those were intimate parts of someone’s life at one time. 😊👍🏻

There is a collectors site called US Militaria Forum, which is free to join. They have members who collect attributable groupings such as your dog tags, photos, hankies and shoes lot. If you put them up there either in their ”Groupings” or “What’s it Worth” sub forums you might make a bit more on the items.

Hello I'm a new subi. Just saw this old video. I'm not sure if you don't know about junk journals. But I saw you passed on linens laces and old birthday Cards. That's the finds journals makers are looking for and also old photos. And beside those items old wallpapers. Next time ask about what is going to happen to the house and ask if you can cut some off. My niece always carries a pocket knife and asked if she can cut some off some times she's lucky and the still have some rolls left. And she and her friends use it in there journals. Just a thought.
